New Design all up in the Hizzy!

They were very hurtful towards me, you know. (Actually, for a free service, they’re pretty good, all things considered.)
A few things you should know:
- I have not yet updated all the posts prior to Dec. 1 for the relocated images. I am going to do that as I go along. For now, all of December is up-to-date and I’ll get to the rest when I have time. Posts without graphics should be good to go.
- Speaking of archives, I haven’t checked to make sure every single post transferred correctly from Blogger, so if you notice quirkiness, drop me a note. I doubt I’ll actually check them all.
- I’m in the process of setting up categories. I’ve only categorized December – I’ll try to have everything labeled with some type of categorization at some point.
- Everything is subject to change on a whim. Don’t be surprised if the headers or other organization changes. Surely you won’t go into convulsions if things aren’t set in stone for a while. If so, you need to leave up out of here.
- All the old Haloscan comments & trackbacks are gone. There was really no way to convert them, so we’ll just have to start fresh. I’ve heard horror stories about Wordpress being a haven for spammers so if montoring comments becomes a real pain in the ass, I may drop them. Also, if I do some accidental trackbacking to any of you nice blogfolks, I apologize in advance.
Now that all this madness is better organized, I’ll try and get back to regular blogging. I know that both of my readers are hanging on my every word.

Nice look. Wordpress is a haven for spammers, when I switched I had about 100 comments darn near instantly. BUT there is a workaround involving editing some of the PHP code in your comments sections such that they aren’t “standard”. I do not remember all the steps, so I won’t even try, but you can good it or perhaps wordpress has a post or two on it.

Spammers love WP almost as much as they love MT. We implemented a simple fix for Preston – - it’s not a ‘catch-all’ however. It generally stops the auto-spammer (those who use the auto-bots to send their spam by hitting your comments file directly)

Preston, if you want to avoid spam get Spam Karma. Mark put it on my WP installation and its wonderful. In the first week it blocked over 500 spam comments with no errors. I haven’t had a spam message get through yet.
Mark’s blog is here. I’m sure he’d be willing to help set you up. He’s also one of the developers for Spam Karma.

I agree. Much nice and it loads much quicker as well.
And comments are smoother. Haloscan is a good for a free service, but its a pain to use.

Hey – thanks for the tips. I’m going to see how Lisa’s fix holds up spam wise before I get worried about it.
And thanks for the tip, Rob. I’ll get in touch with Mark if things get ugly.
Lisa, you’ll be glad to know that several people liked your header and stick men better than my modifications. Hey, you can’t please everyone, I guess.
And for anyone considering such a move/redesign, Lisa kicks ass.
