Up yours, Whitman

January 3rd, 2005 at 11:40 am by Preston Taylor Holmes

I’ve never liked Christine Todd Whitman – when she was Governor of New Jersey, I didn’t like her. Then, when President Junior appointed her to head up the EPA, that was one of the clues that let me know that President Junior was no conservative.

The new Republican enemy within consists of liberals like John McCain, Christine Todd Rodman Whitman, Lamar Alexander and Arnold Schwarzenegger. These RINOs continue to bleat about how we need to reach out to brain-dead dim-o-crack voters and move the GOP to the left. Horseshit, I say.

According to Drudge, Whitman’s new book spends much of its time Bush bashing – much like the books of Paul O’Neill and other Bush ex-appointees.

BUSH BASH BOOK BURSTS IN TIME FOR INAUGURAL

Christine Todd Whitman, the former New Jersey governor who was President Bush’s first administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, has written a book that touts the importance of moderates to the future of the Republican Party and flays Bush and his team for ignoring the country’s middle.

Whitman charges on Page 3 that Bush’s three-percentage-point margin in the popular vote is the lowest of any incumbent president ever to win reelection, the WASHINGTON POST reports in coming editions, newsroom sources tell DRUDGE.

IT’S MY PARTY TOO: THE BATTLE FOR THE HEART OF THE GOP AND THE FUTURE OF AMERICA streets during inauguration week, insuring heavy media coverage.

“The numbers show that while the president certainly did energize his political base, the red state/blue state map changed barely at all, suggesting that he had missed an opportunity to significantly broaden his support in the most populous areas of the country,” Whitman writes. “The Karl Rove strategy to focus so rigorously on the narrow conservative base won the day, but we must ask at what price to governing and at what risk to the future of the party.”

Whitman details her many scars and frustrations in dealing with what she calls the “antiregulatory lobbyists and extreme antigovernment ideologues” that she suggests hold too much sway over the Republican party.

Seems like little Chrissie got her feelings hurt somewhere along the line and is bitch-slapping back at those mean white men in the white house. And how about that book title – what a whiny hag – “It’s my party too, waaaaaaaaaaaaah! Give it back! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”

By the way, Chrissie, when you refer to those “antiregulatory lobbyists and antigovernment ideologues” – who the hell are you talking about? President Junior’s administration has done nothing but grow government and lay down while Dim-O-Cracks had their regulatory way with them — and it looks like that’s not going to change in the second term.

All this garbage does is serve as a reminder that the Republican Party is now the old Democratic party (moderate-to-liberal) while the Dim-O-Cracks have moved full on into unapologetic French-style Socialism.

If the GOP wants to actually increase its electoral power, it needs to move back to the right – smaller goverment, individual liberty, personal accountability – not closer to the the socialist left pandering to the handout classes. Otherwise, many conservatives (myself included) will finally make the leap to the Libertarian Party.

Disagree. Schwarzenegger, like it or not, is a 21st Century politico: socially libertarian, fiscally conservative (he just declared war on Cal Dems), & strong on defense.

The chair of the Cal Republicans just wrote a great ed saying it would be a mistake for Republicans, for example, to repeat the Dems’ mistake in driving all opposing (ie, anti-abortion) voices from their leadership, as it served only to radicalize the party infrastructure such that it tolerated people like Michael Moore.

If the Republicans are hijacked by the 19% of Americans who favor a ban on abortion, they’ll be going down the same road.

I thought about that after I read your post on Schwarzenegger today (regarding his speech last night). His speech last night is certainly a good sign – so perhaps I was too quick to lump him in with Whitman, but there are more than enough RINOs to fill his spot in this post. Which is why I lean libertarian anyway.
