His speech last night is certainly a good sign - so perhaps I was too quick to lump him in with Whitman, but there are more than enough RINOs to fill his spot in this post. Schwarzenegger, like it or not, is a 21st Century politico: socially libertarian, fiscally conservative (he just declared war on Cal Dems), & strong on defense. The chair of the Cal Republicans just wrote a great ed saying it would be a mistake for Republicans, for example, to repeat the Dems' mistake in driving all opposing (ie, anti-abortion) voices from their leadership, as it served only to radicalize the party infrastructure such that it tolerated people like Michael Moore. If the Republicans are hijacked by the 19% of Americans who favor a ban on abortion, they'll be going down the same road. Disagree.
