Political Correctness kills 3, wounds others

March 11th, 2005 at 4:29 pm by Preston Taylor Holmes

No doubt you’ve heard the news of the shooting at the Atlanta courthouse earlier today. It’s been all over Fox, CNN, etc – they’ve finally found something more important than Michael Jackson’s pajamas to report on. If you haven’t here’s the short version:

ATLANTA – A judge presiding over a rape trial was shot to death Friday along with two other people at the Fulton County Courthouse, authorities said. A fourth person was critically wounded and the suspect, the defendant at the trial, remained at bay hours later.

Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor confirmed that Superior Court Judge Rowland Barnes and his court reporter were killed. He gave no other details in announcing the deaths in the state Senate. A deputy died later at a hospital, authorities said.

Witnesses said the gunman carjacked a car and authorities were searching for a green Honda Accord that was hijacked from a newspaper reporter.

Fulton County Sheriff’s Lt. Clarence Huber identified the suspect as 33-year-old Brian Nichols, who was on trial on rape and other charges stemming from an incident in August.

How did the whole episode start? Political correctness, that’s how.

I’m crazy, you say? Maybe so, but consider how the entire incident started:

The suspect got the gun by overpowering a sheriff’s deputy while he was being escorted within the courthouse, Assistant Police Chief Alan Dreher said. He then went to the courtroom, held about a dozen people there at bay for a short time and then shot and killed the judge and court reporter, he said.

Another deputy was later killed outside the courthouse.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has more details on how the bastard got the gun in the first place.

Fulton Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Thompson described how a man in custody was able to obtain the gun he used to shoot and kill three people this morning at the Fulton County Courthouse.

Thompson said Deputy Cynthia Hall had shooting suspect Brian Nichols in a holding area on the eighth floor of the Justice Center Tower in downtown Atlanta. Nichols was changing his jail clothes to his street clothes to appear before Fulton County Superior Court Judge Rowland Barnes in his rape case.

Before Hall was able to handcuff Nichols after he had changed, Thompson said, he grabbed the deputy’s gun and shot her and grabbed her keys. Nichols needed the keys to leave the the hold room, which was between courtrooms 8A and 8B in the newest part of the courthouse.

Nichols opened the door and ran across a nearby walkway that connects the new part of the justice center to the old part, where Barnes was in court. Nichols made his way to the courtroom, entered and began shooting, Thompson said. Barnes was shot in the head. Court reporter Julie Brandau was also shot. Both died on the scene.

Nichols ran out of an exit and apparently ran down seven flights of stairs and out an emergency exit, which triggered an alarm, although deputies had already been put on alert. Nichols fled through the side of the building on Martin Luther King Drive.

Do I blame the deputy for what happened? Absolutely not. I blame the bureaucrats and other moronic asshats who would put a female deputy in a situation with a violent criminal where she is obviously overmatched in a physical struggle. All he had to do was get the jump on her and it was over.

I don’ t know anything about Deputy Hall, and it’s unclear from the story whether or not she survived the shooting – I certainly hope and pray that she did. The bottom line is that she should never have been put in that position.

The politically correct mindset that refuses to acknowledge the inherent (and undeniable) differences between men and women is at fault in this incident. With a little bit of common sense, this whole incident could have been avoided and three people, including Judge Barnes, would still be alive right now.

Believe it or not, sometimes discrimination in the workplace based on common sense and the ability to do the job is actually a good thing.

So, you politically-correct ACLU-types who have filed lawsuit after lawsuit to prevent discrimination and subvert common sense in the workplace, you can take pride in this killing. Celebrate these deaths tonight, because the blood is on your hands.

UPDATE:

Authorities have apprehended the fuckface who committed the murders yesterday.

The bad news is that he’s still alive. Now we get to listen to all the lawyers on the left bleat on about his “rights” and how he shouldn’t be put to death. They’ll say he was driven to these crimes because his ancestors had been slaves and he came from a broken home. It’s always the same story.

Plus, this guy will be even more of a hero to the left because he killed at least one law-enforcement officer, a judge, and possibly a customs agent. These three are cogs in the wheel of the evil establishment that played a part in holding Brian Nichols down, driving him to such an act of uncivil disobedience.

I was really hoping that he would be dead by now. What a shame.

UPDATE 2:

Red State Rant says that something like Friday’s slaughter was inevitable in Fulton County. He’s got boots on the ground down there in Atlanta, so he ought to know.

    Damn good point.

One I doubt you will hear repeated very many places.

  2. Preston Taylor Holmes Says:

Thanks PileOn®. It was actually Mrs. Holmes’ keen observation, but she refused to guest-blog it, so I had to run with the idea. She’s pretty damn smart – except for that marrying me thing.

Political Corectness To Blame For Atlanta Shooting?
I’m sure most of you have been following the story about the shooting at an Atlanta court house. Most of us are probably wondering how in the man was able to seize a deputy’s weapon and escape.

Here’s a description of what happened:

Heh, I am thankful that my wifes one shortcoming is her judge of character.

  5. Dan Says:

Not sure if it was accurate but I heard on the radio tonight she had also had remedial weapons training for some reason. Im sure it will come out if true.

    Atlanta Shootings
I have to agree with this post at Six Meat Buffet (thanks to Basil’s Blog for the heads up) that the tragic shootings in Atlanta were ultimately the result of the victory of political correctness over common sense. Why was…

just wait till the lib’s read this, they’ll be calling you a sexist pig (like that’s a bad thing)

  8. Preston Taylor Holmes Says:

To quote Nigel Tufnel, “what’s wrong with being sexy?”

    p.s. I’m a misogynist, not a sexist.

  9. Eric Says:

Nice job Preston. I also predict that the squealing Ned Beattys of the American Left will now demand gun-free courthouses.

  10. Red State Rant Says:

Something like Fridays bloodletting in Fulton County was ineveitable!
Living in Georgia and residing in the county where Brian Nichols was captured today I feel compelled to expound on this topic. Anyone in Atlanta could see something this horrible a mile away and there are pleny of people with blood on their hands in this

  11. Crystal Clear Says:

I would only add it is not “just” the politically correct mindset with regards to differences between physical strength with regards to women &men… the politically correct would have us believe criminals and the mentally ill want and know now to play by the “rules of the game”…that is deadly risk to wager and will always be a deadly risk…Nice job on writing about a needless tragedy and that is what needs to be spread and said time and time again across the blogosphere…this evil/dangerous/sociopath had been found to have made SHANKS…even a man with a gun dealing with a sociopath who doesn’t think the rules apply to him will wreak havoc and death…

  12. Anonymous Says:

the atlanta da prosecuting nichols said in responce to a question about the disposition of nichols said she didn’t think he was displaying any violent tendencies. this from the very person entrusted with burying him.
