George Bush Doesn’t Care About Black People

September 2nd, 2005 at 10:05 pm by Preston Taylor Holmes

Just in case you didn’t know that.

I don’t know who Kwame West is, but he caused some showbiz discomfort on NBC’s Hurricane Concert tonight with a rambling speech centered around how George Bush doesn’t care about black people and how the military has been given permission to “go down there and shoot us.”

The best part of the video – besides West’s inability to string together a complete sentence or acheive subject/verb agreement – is that he’s standing next to Mike Myers, who looks highly uncomfortable during the painfully unscripted sequence.

Riehl World View has the video here. It’s great stuff – if you can get past the lunacy of what Kwame is saying and just enjoy it for the pure entertainment value.

  1. ETnGuy Says:

I guess since the facts of the ’speech’ can’t be disputed we will just personally attack the speaker? It’s not just blacks Mr. Bush has no use nor need of; it is you and I also. Pray you never need help from the man; you will never see it.

  2. Mad Dog Vinnie Says:

You’re just jealous because people like Preston and me have made preparations so that we won’t have to suck the government tit if something like this happened to us, you fucking pantshitting assmonkey.

  3. One-Fine-Day Says:

I like the way the camera cuts away from him after he says he shit about our leader does not like black people. I am sure good ol’ Jessie will be out now talking about how the man is trying to keep his “people” from having free speach. [not necessary]

  4. Preston Taylor Holmes Says:

You know what’s funny, EtnGuy? You and I actually agree on this:

“It’s not just blacks Mr. Bush has no use nor need of; it is you and I also. Pray you never need help from the man; you will never see it.”

However, the accusation was that the federal government are intentionally dragging their feet because “George Bush doesn’t like black people.” You know that’s horseshit, but you’re just another idiot playing politics with the biggest natural disaster in our history.

But whatever makes you feel better about yourself… go for it.

  5. Smantix Says:

West just said what Democrats have been saying since Tuesday. The full throated Mother-In-Law Party in all of it’s glory.

    Well I what’ve done it this way….

Democrats run the city of New Orleans. Democrats run the state of New Orleans. Several members of Louisiana’s emergency management office were recently indicted for misappropriating relief funds from Hurricane Ivan. Those people are fucked because of their decisions.

While they had no control over the hurricane, they did have control over whether to leave or not. By their own accord or by Nagin ordering the buses to go and pick everybody up and shuttle them the fuck out (which he chose not to do). And I do mean before the hurricane and not after the Democrats locked them down into a cell of filth.

Witness democracy inaction. The people you vote for closer to home have more impact on your daily life than the people in Washington. The inmates of New Orleans will suffer, some will die but I am confident that they will emerge from the experience none the wiser.

  6. T. Longren » Kanye West has Diarrhea Says:

[...] Confederate Yankee has a press release from the Red Cross in response to Kanye’s comments on NBC. PunditGuy feels for Mike Myers too, as everyone probably does. Dave at Garfield Ridge has various updates. In one of the updates he mentions Chris Tucker at the end. I thought that was Chris Tucker, video is pretty blurry though. Mad Dog Vinnie’s comment at Six Meat Buffet is hilarious. [...]

  7. WEB Du Bois Says:

The above comments are the most igorant statements I’ve come across since Katrina unleashed the US worst natural disastor in the this nations history. Its amazing how even in the worst of times partisan politics still maintain the status quo. your lack of humanity on the basis class, race, and socioeconomics mankes is trully sad. Kanye West is a a true patriot for speaking the truth that the larg majority of Amercia does not have the balls to do. :!: :!::!:

  8. MacStansbury Says:

    was that a joke?

I can only figure it’s a joke with the :!: :!::!: stuck in there.

  9. JIM Says:

iM GLAD HE SAID IT AND I WISH MORE PEOPLE (BLACKS AND WHITES) WOULD GET THIER ASS IN GEAR AND SPEAK UP…..THEY ARE ALL CHICKENS. KICK BUSH OUT

  10. Mad Dog Vinnie Says:

Would someone please close the door to the asylum?

  11. Heiko Says:

This isn’t about politics, it’s about humanity…and looking from over here (Australia) it sure looks like that’s one thing a lot of American bible bashing white folks have very little of when it comes to anybody who is of a different opinion, race or culture. It was disturbing in Iraq, and it’s totally disgusting now in New Orleans. These people were left behind like so much trash, and nobody put their hand up to get them out in a hurry…because nobody wants a bunch of underprivileged coloured people camping on their nicely manicured front lawn. It’s the same attitude that has people make smart-ass remarks about ‘the rapper who doesn’t know his grammar’ in this very column. Why do you think that is, you ignoramus? Have you considered that it may just be due to the same lack of opportunity and support that has has once again reared its ugly head in your country for all the world to see? Your president seriously sucks…but then, that’s not surprising…cause people like you voted for him!

  12. wolf Says:

I just want to say that i did not vote for bush….TWICE. But one thing i did feel after 9-11, was that if Gore had won the election, and become president, the republicans would have had him impeached for not protecting the citizens of our country. After hurricane Katrina, i feel quite similar. In the most wealthy, industrialized nation in the world, it takes FIVE days for help to arrive? That is absolutely inexcusable. Regardless of your political ideology you have to agree with that. If this hurricane happened under Bill Clintons watch, and federal, I’m sorry, MILITARY assistance took this long to arrive, the republicans would have destroyed Clinton for not protecting the people of New Orleans. I can only imagine the the reaction of our governent if a dirty bomb was detonated in beverly hills or in downtown manhattan, or in palm beach florida, (where i live). I would hope that the response would be faster. Now it seems that we have an admistration that has failed to protect the population of its country two times in a matter of four years. The only difference is that the president and his administration knew that this disaster was coming four days in advance, and that city of new orleans would not be able to withstand a direct hit from a hurricane. The “commander in chief” should have had the people of new orleans evacuated by our military, and that is the bottom line. The reason we elect these people is to protect us from events like this. If they fail to do so they should be fired, and competent people should run this country (people that listen to scientists and meteoroligists that give warnings to devastating events like this one).

One positive note, I don;t think any of us will ever see the president of the united states out on a fishing trip while our nation is at war.

and one last note, who i drect towards George Bush himself:

I’m so sorry that the war wasn’t a good enough reason to prevent or end your vacation mr. patriot, i’m sorry mr. president. I guess it takes an event like this to end it….. NOW GET TO WORK!

  13. Shirley Hemphill Says:

I don’t know – I kind of like that Mr. Bush. He had Cedric the Entertainer at the White House Correspondents Dinner.

I think we should charge Hurricane Katrina with a hate crime. She sounds like a white bitch.

  14. David Says:

“About 10,000 US National Guard troops were deployed [in New Orleans] and were granted the authority to fire at and kill whom they wanted, upon the pretext of restoring order. This decision is an indication of the US administration’s militarist mentality, which regards killing as the only way to control even its own citizens. ” MORE WORLD PRESS HERE:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4211320.stm

  15. Dan ol boy Says:

Ask yourself this question. Would it have taken them so long to organise disaster relief to a rich middle class white area. I think not.

  16. Smantix Says:

David links to the BBC, but the BBC is quoting a bunch of left-wing newspapers that even *I* haven’t heard of. For instance, David’s money quote comes from Iran’s Al-Vefagh newspaper. Considered one of Iran’s top twenty-five weekly coupon saver magazines.

Rest easy fellow looters. The National Guard is too busy killing the innocent to keep you from robbing and raping. We better hurry up and draft the Articles of Impeachment!

  17. Gorilla Watch Says:

    Pardon the English (I’m francophone).

Though Mr West’s motivations were probably noble, I think he demonstrated brightly why illiterate little people should avoid jumping on any soap box to gratify their huge egos.

Kanye West improvised a 90-feet long phrase that sounded like something out of a 9 year old’s class presentation. Incoherent and emotional, rather than focused and objective, his outing will never serve the cause for black dignity in the US. It actually gives ammunition to those who think that adult African humans are somewhat more prone to primitive emotional thinking rather than Cartesian articulacy.

I don’t condemn his motivations (and agree with his last phrase); I just think he certainly didn’t help anything other than his publicity rep and upcoming album release.

Black people (I included) don’t need to be represented by barefoot buffoons buffed by bling.

  18. David Says:

“David links to the BBC, but the BBC is quoting a bunch of left-wing newspapers…”
What? Now you’re denying world-wide condemnation by labelling them all left-wing? This is the world’s finest news organisation, the BBC…and you’re trying to dismiss their roundup of opinion as left-wing?? You conceited idiot. No wonder you vote for Bush.

  19. David Says:

“They killed a man here last night,” Steve Banka, 28, told the Reuters news agency before he left on Sunday.
A body lies face down in water next to the Superdome. Death was everywhere, both inside and outside the Superdome
“A young lady was being raped and stabbed. And the sounds of her screaming got to this man and so he ran out into the street to get help from troops, to try to flag down a passing truck of them. He jumped up on the truck’s windscreen and they shot him dead,” Mr Banka said.

  20. Preston Taylor Holmes Says:

These comments are a hoot. Keep it up! Especially the hysterical Aussies.

  21. Smantix Says:

As a lifelong Democrat, I am shocked and appalled at the behavior of this administration. I voted for Al Gore twice in 2000 and Jean-Claude F. Kerry three times in 2004.

The only guy who can save us now is Lyndon LaRouche.

    I love you Shirley Hemphill!

  22. Tina Lerenzi Says:

Why would any of you folks care whether Kayne West can put a sentence together correctly when the president of this country is a semi literate, half wit? This is just an obvious and juvenile way to distract people from the truth. Kayne West made his point clear enough and I agree completely with everything he was trying to say. Our leaders betray their true thoughts and feelings by way of their actions. Precious time and assets were wasted on so called “looters while people were suffocating in their attics. Even now the troops, police and firefighters are protecting private property instead of saving lives. I believe hundreds or even thousands of lives were lost because first responders were told to protect property instead of people. It’s all about the money and most of the victims who were left to fend for themselves have no money. We live in a racist country in a racist world and the treatment you receive has everything to do with your race, your gender, your religion, your financial status, who you know & who you blow. Yes, the Democrats may run New Orleans and occupy some state positions but it was the Federal government, specifically Bush, who cut the funding needed to reinforce the levee system and restore the coastal wetlands. I seriously doubt if this funding would have been cut if a Republican Senator was begging for funds instead of a Democrat. Like I say it’s who you blow.

  23. C. Calhoun Says:

    Very well said! (Tina Lerenzi)

  24. Mad Dog Vinnie Says:

Man, Preston, I’m swearing off Foster’s for life.

  25. ben Says:

“I don’t know who Kwame West is, but he caused some showbiz discomfort on NBC’s Hurricane Concert…”

Is the misspelling of a person’s name ignorant or is it some sort of inside joke? anyway, i’m glad someone had the balls to say what Kanye said. I highly doubt that the gov’t is dragging thier feet because of GWB’s supposed personal racial biases..but, it seems pretty apparent that the only demographic that Bush cares for is the rich (white), christian (white), and power hungry (white). unfortunately the other demographic is the stupid white nascar fans that you know…hate ‘niggers’ too. too bad that all your social security is being pissed away by his fake war, i hear false teeth run thousands in usa.

  26. mike Says:

Why is everyone afraid to shy away from the truth. It is so disgusting to me how the media can just portray and image and spin situations, and be so called, “free speech.” I am glad Kanye West had the guts to go out and actually say something and use his ability to represent an opinion that is not so much even acknowleged and give it some life on live broadcast. We as Americans are too fearful and ignorant to the fact that our government is corrupt, and by doing this we are being completely UN-AMERICAN. Being American is expressing your opinions and feelings towards your government, beit good or bad, and not having to face consequences or trouble. Those are the principles this country was founded on. The bottome line is it took this asshole (President Bush) 4 days to go down and help this city, and the reserves who are supposed to be HERE in times like this, are out fighting this faggots war! All of the rich affluent people are out of the country and the poor and minorities (who are not ALL black mind you) are stuck living in without any vital supplies!

  27. B. Davis Says:

 I’m a native Houstonian and I’ve experienced the most devastating aftermath in my live, while volunteering at the AstroDome on Thursday evening. I was their until 5:00am Friday morning, helping two families from New Orleans to relocate to a more safe and sanitized environment. I can’t begin to put into words the heartache that I felt when I entered into the AstroDome w/one of the ladies to help her look for her teenage daughter and her husband. I guess I should start from the beginning. I met the woman and her family in the parking lot of a supermarket across the street from the Dome, my sister and I were reaching out to anyone in need of help. The woman and her husband had a hurtful and haunting look in their eyes that I won’t soon forget. Her first words to me were(we don’t have anything, everything is gone I haven’t seen my daugther and everyone from home said that they last seen her swimming in the water) she also told me about they way they were being treated by volunteers and security at the Dome, like animals and being referred to as REFUGEES. I later experienced this humiliating treatment first hand. Her husband found out that he had lost his grandmother and his mother was still missing. As we walked through the sea of nameless tired, shocked and traumitized faces in the Dome she was occasionally greeted by old friends and neighbors whom she hadn’t seen since before the storm, she also would hear the names of neighbors who drowned in the flood waters. The conditions in the Dome were awful, there were two reported rapes of two young girls, therefore the lights were to remain on 24/7 going forward. There was no triage station, no medication, no medical equipment/supplies, and the odor was sickening, many of the evacuees were still wearing the clothing that they were rescued in. There was a sea of cots lining the Astro Dome floor. Some people just stood in the hallways in corners looking dazed and confused also afraid. Let’s not forget that they to are afraid of us in a sense because not everyone’s intentions are sincere. Advantage can be exploited on the giving and recieving end as well. We would like to hope that as a society who has survived such an herindous tragedy that we could come together as one, and for the most of us we have with sincere intentions. The families are staying at the American Inn Hotel (713) 457-0905 room 233 for 3-days only and they are trying to register w/FEMA for assistance and are running out of time and I out of funds to help. If you would like to assist these families please contact them at the hotel listed above. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  28. Amy Says:

It’s funny how everytime a catastrophe happens, somebody has to take the blame for it. Whatever happened to people helping people. If you are so concerned about what’s happening in New Orleans, why don’t you take some time to help the people down there and donate instead of whinning and bitching about how the president doesn’t care about black people. This country used to be the envy of every other country, and now it’s just a laughing matter. It’s own people can’t even agree on things and help each other out but instead just whine like monkeys! Truly sad!

  29. Mad Dog Vinnie Says:

    Dear Australia,

Next time, we’ll let the Japanese kick your sorry asses.

Oh wait, the next time it will be the Chinese. Hope you like flied lice.

  30. Preston Taylor Holmes Says:

This one has really brought out the nitwits. But hey, a hit’s a hit.

And B. Davis, if you’re legit (and I’m not sure…), thanks for all your efforts.

  31. C. Calhoun Says:

    Hmmmm? Interesting comments by Amy…

Whine like monkeys? I’ve never heard that phrase before. I have heard “whine like babies”, I wonder why the term monkeys was used. And you wonder why we can’t agree?

  32. Seadog Says:

    Dear Mad Dog Vinnie

I suspect you have more to fear from the Chinese, mate, we’re pretty friendly with the neighbours over here. And feel free to give up the Fosters, no-one here drinks that crap.

  33. Mad Dog Vinnie Says:

Why Seadog, you’re right. Anyone could tell by what happened in Bali just how friendly you all are with the neighbors over there.

I was kidding about the Foster’s. Never drank a drop of it in my life.

  34. Maya Says:

The U.S. is the most HUMANE when it comes to other countries in need. I don’t know what’s been happening as far as the Bush Admin and New Orleans (and other regions badly affected) but I’m sure there’s justification. Well where the other countries? You know, the ones that we busted ass aiding in their own times of crisis? Sure foreigners from all over the world will come here and suck up all that this humane country has to offer (and that’s A LOT – from food stamps to government assistance) but when we’re the ones in need I guess we’re on our own. Also, Kanye West is an idiot and his lack of education really shows. I’m sorry what? Give permission to go shoot them? wow. Anyway I wonder if Ms Condoleeza Rice, being a black citizen, felt so unliked when she was appointed by President Bush. :?:

  35. Ms. Bell Says:

It sounds like a problem with local authorities. The federal government relies on the locals until they can step in. You would think local authorities could’ve lasted atleast a week on their own. Now that is sad. Kanye West was out of line and perhaps he was trying to gain a loyalty from the black communities. Also I have to say I’ve heard toddlers speak better English than Kanye West.

  36. Anonymous Says:

KANYE WEST DOESN’T CARE ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE. The ignorant remarks made by the illiterate mofo probably cost the victims a hefty amount of donations. There’s nothing wrong with him taking a stand behind his opinion and we all know he’s not the only one who feels the way he does. What he could do to voice it is buy his own air time or use another platform like his website. It is too clear that Kanye West is uneducated – he has the maturity of students in grade school. It’s just sad that he’s considered a role model to so many young children! Let this be a lesson to all of you kids: STAY IN SCHOOL AND CONTINUE YOUR EDUCATION!

  37. Cobb Says:

    If Kanye West Is Racist

If Kanye West is racist, then so is every reader of Dean’s World.

  38. Seadog Says:

Just a bit of a heads up, Mad Dog. Bali is a small island in the Indonesian archipelago, a region wracked by civil unrest. China is part of the big continent further north.

Associating with septics is our biggest failing in this neighborhood. With friends like you who needs enemies?

  39. Chad Evans Says:

To suggest President Bush doesn’t care about black people is a complete fallacy. He was elected to care for all Americans as every president was. There is a huge undertaking now and he personally appealed to Texas Governor Rick Perry to take in refugees, most of whom are black. Is this what someone who doesn’t care about an entire race does? We are all Americans and to suggest otherwise is incorrect.

Buildings were not given a priority, but the people at the buildings were. There’s a distinct difference some here can’t seem to tell between. You can’t safely evacuate people with armed gangs running or swimming the streets. You can’t administer aid to people with gangs attacking the distribution centers. You can’t even save someone who is stuck in a two-story house with 10 feet of water with a truck. The levee break brought a huge kink to the already planned disaster relief. The information is actually out there if you care to turn off the politicized CNN and MSNBC reports and read it for yourself.

FEMA’s role is to support the state relief, not supercede it. It’s a statute of law in which it’s quite clear only .5% of people have ever read. Also the role of keeping up infrastructure falls into the hands of the state, not federal government. Furthermore, there is starting to be ample evidence to suggest there was a great deal of ineptitude at state and local levels which impeded any federal response. Is the Mayor of New Orleans a racist because he didn’t try to forcefully evict residents?

  40. Mad Dog Vinnie Says:

Glad to see you can use Google, Seadog.

And it’s because of friends like us, you’re not part of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere.

On the other hand, with friends like you, who needs enemas?

  41. daniel Says:

Why is Kanye West uneducated, immature, and illiterate because he stammered through an unscripted, emotion-driven speech? Knowing that there would be backlash from the speech must have made him nervous, and I certainly would be stammering were I to speak on something I felt so passionate about in front of cameras and national audiences. And, what loyalty would a guy like Kanye need to gain from the black community?

Dispute the validity of his statements, do not dispute his education or his intelligence.

Also, comments like “Hope you enjoy flied lice” in reference to China, show how immature and racist some motherfuckers are.

  42. Seadog Says:

It’s been a pleasure, Mad Dog. Thanks for all your help in WWII, but I reckon our diggers did all right, mate. Still don’t get how you blokes drop an H-bomb and come out looking like heroes… and good luck with your little internal admin problem down south.

  43. Nick Says:

from what i have seen on the news. white people have been potrayed as looking for food n black people looting. thats awful and racist, however i wouldnt say unexpected. i belive that george bush and the whole republican party and the media is racist, is racist, so whether its a time of chrisis or not there will allways be racist angle being played out. the situatation has been handled really badly. i dont belive that it has been handled badly on purpose but perhaps not enough thought has been put into how to save lives directly rather than processing , puttin checkpoints up and doing things too systematiclly to get a result.

My views on what kanye said. I think that the whole american system needs to be questioned in every mediam possible. people do it through music, art, poetry the internt, kanyes coments are on a huge news broadcasting network so in terms of getting a message accross that thousands of people would want to say, he has said it, which deffinatly deserves respect. i can apprechiate that kanye knows that he is pushed for time, they could cutt him off at any muinet so he is kinda scrambling to pull together everything he wants to say, and say it, in turn the message isnt as direct and to the point as i think he could have made it. i think he knew this so getting in
“george bush does not care about black people” is a sort of a sealed, certified n stamped statement of what hes wants to say.

will this affect the amount of money people give as aid? i dont think, and hope that it doesnt… {edit} rethinking, generally becauses of how backwards shit is over there i imagin that it will.what i do hope is that although the footage has now been edited and perhaps not that many people in asmerica saw the origional footage is that kanye gets a lot of media attention after this chrisis, so he can actually prepare something to say, seeeing as he herdly strings a sentance together in the clip. in my mind the chances of this are rather slim. i cross my fingers that a reporter somewhere has the balls to do it. although, i see the american media really working together on this one to cover it up.

props to B. davis and all the morrally humane.. and sane posters here.

mad dod are you conetent with being racist ignorant and stupid?

  44. smantix Says:

Well that’s part of your problem Nick. You’re finding out *part* of the story from the news but not *all* of it.

Luckily for you, Snopes spells it out.

We can distinguish someone who is taking food, water, medicine or even a car to evacuate themselves or others under these exigent circumstances. Having said that, we can also condemn people who break into jewelry stores, gun shops or start swiping 20 pairs of tennis shoes and DVD players. A failure on the part of the Louisiana local government to stop the looting in the initial phase would have kept the situation under control.

I’m not going to diss on the Aussies because they’ve been tremendous allies through the years and I’ve always had a lot of respect for John Howard. We are just now getting to the 1 week mark since the hurricane hit and federal evacuation efforts and intervention have been well under way for several days. But just like our country, the Australians also have a leftwing that hopes people in our country can die so they can score political points and engage in a little schadenfreude at our expense.

The hurricane isn’t racially biased. Parts of Mississippi look worse than New Orleans but it’s not getting much media attention because they aren’t acting batshit insane.

“And it’s because of friends like us, you’re not part of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere.”

…and part of the American whitewashing christianity campaign…

who the eff references “helping with the war” anymore? “hey Jew, shine my shoes, i’m 30th generation murrican and we saved your ass in the war”

nobody on this planet owes America anything. America is not a person, it hasn’t done any selfless deeds and most certainly wouldn’t be classified as an altruistic nation. There are people in america whom some of are the best people i’ve ever met. sadly there are a couple hundred million who haven’t been outside of thier suburbs who actually think that still talking about WWII gives them carte blanche to do whatever they want.

P.S. you really didn’t do anything all that great in WWII (just a little late in Germany guys)

  47. Chip Says:

It worked, somebody just called me a loser!

Ben- we didn’t do anything all that great in WWII? We only saved the world from Nazi and Japanese imperialist aggression. That’s not much. Then we helped rebuild everything we destroyed. Cause that’s what we do.

So you keep your $2 redcross donation, we’ll get by with out it.

  48. Smantix Says:

He’s evidently never heard of The White Australia policy. Must be why all the fucking aborigines are millionaire soccer stars now.

  49. ben Says:

and began your own imperialistic journey…blah blah blah…same old garbage justification from the same old supporters of the same old boys club.

and as for australia…i won’t touch that one…problems there are incredibly overlooked.

oh and chip, you’re welcome for your first (an most likely only) comment on your site. savour it.

yeah, we use “u” in canada…harp on that.

  51. John Says:

Kanye West isn’t racist. The guy is doing a song with John Mayer. He is a socially and political conscioud guy.

Bush and the government did act more quickly to the 9/11 issue than they did to the New Orleans incident.

    Think about it!

They were quicker to New York (for 9/11) where they didn’t have any warnings and no survivors. In New Orleans, there were many survivors in desperate need that you could see on TV, and Hurricanes don’t just show up they had days to set up for this and the governer of LA and Bush are trying to make a decision on how to approach things four day after this happened.

    Bush….a racist…is it not obvious??

  52. ben Says:

    macstansbury…

just to make me angry? sure, i think you give yourself too much credit.

you “fledgling independent journalists” are the best. chip deleting my comment, even better. once you start reading both sides of the story with an equal amount of attention and then form and hit “publish” on an opinion that doesn’t just mirror some turd from fox news…well at that point you might get a few readers. you might even get a job offer from your local newspaper to write opinion pieces. till then, i’ll hop on your blog once in a while, increase your coveted traffic and laugh. or maybe i won’t waste my time. yep, that’s it….

this thread is making my brain shrink at a rapid pace.

    have fun with it kids.

  53. MacStansbury Says:

Kayne West + John Mayer = not racist

    but

George Bush + Condi Rice = racist

    I get it.

and ben, I don’t think your brain can shrink any more

  54. clayton Says:

It seems to me that if you guys got out to the real world every once in a while, you would have noticed that Kanye West was emotionally driven while making his statement on national television. When speaking about something you feel so strong and emotional about, it’s not un-human, un-natural, or un-intelligent to stutter. Especially while on national television, unlike posting on the internet.

Throughout the above post I have seen some intelligence, but mostly I sense low self esteem, insecurities, arrogance, ignorance, superiority, and racially driven attitudes on both sides. It’s saddening to see such dividedness in this time of suffering.

I guess when you can conceal your identity and spend time working on your paragraphs to post, you can make yourself appear intelligent. I have my doubts that everyone on this post, including me, does not have the balls to do something like what Kanye did, and if someone does have the balls to speak on national television about a such heated topic driven by large amounts of emotion, I guarantee they would buckle under the pressure and appear to be “un intelligent or have the speaking ability of “someone in grade school

I hope yall realize what yall are saying and how yall are acting. Trying growing up or something, and go outside every once in a while. It’s good for you. If you want to argue over something, cut to the chase and just argue about who has a bigger dick, because that’s all yall seem to be trying to do when everything is said and done.

  55. A European American Says:

This has truly been an exciting hour reading all the different chats from some incredibly ignorant individuals.
    Let’s cut to the chase…
KWAME or Kanye, purposely mispelling his name shows your lack of power, so you try and exert it by misspelling his name. But I tell you what, you won’t ever forget him. When a Man has the confidence to speak in front of large audiences, this can sometimes be overwhelming… let’s take a look at our dear president bush: he stutters, mumbles, skips words, and speaks as though he is in grade school. But no one is talking about his speech impediment problem. The comments that weremade about Kanye West not being able to put together an articulate sentence would be discredited if you listened to his album.
An Educated Poet, that’s him, one who was greatly affected from the tragedy that happened to Americans, Blacks and Whites. But you constantly see blacks beeing portrayed as savages or a lowly dependent people, how typical of Westrn thought patterns of inferiority. But no one showed all the races scrounging, excuse me, looting for food in the grocery stores, blacks, whites, hispanics, asians and all.
Everyone’s talking about how president bush was quicker on his feet to go and help other countries, well yeah that’s true. When you think about it of course he would want to go and save the Tsunami victims, because they are responsible for the little stickers and tags that read made in Thailand, Phillipines, Cambodia, etc on virtually everything you own in your house (appliances, clothes, shoes, cell phones, computer parts, keyboards, televisions, food, etc). Without the small children and overworked citizens of these countries none of you would be typing on your computers and keypads, and our economy would take a a serious blow. So when you think about it, what value does a bunch of 3rd and 4th generation slaves pose to the US economy? Nothing if you are looking in term of dollars, African Americans are a people who did not migrate here looking to establish success in the great melting pot, they were physically forced, manipulated into being here, and then stripped of their native tongue, culture, dignity, and self pride and made to serve people who used GOD as their justification, which only perpetuates the ignorance that continues today.
SO we call the American Survivors “Refugees” in their own county that they slaved over to build. Now You would think that since the south was built on the bloody backs of slaves, that we would appreciate them as a people and as an American.
    What do you think?
    In terms of the looters…..
You had people that had to resort to the Barter system to get their needs met, does this sound familiar to anyone:
“Please let me get on the bus, I will give you my wedding ring, its worth alot.” probably not because you probably don’t have to try and sell valuables to get food, medicine, or stay alive.
Have any of you so-called educated readers heard of survival of the fittest? because when I think of European History and our civilizations that’s what I think of (i.e. Vikings). There was a whole European culture that was known for robbing, looting, and killing others people, all to survive and live well, instead of migrating from a northern europe cold barren land to more fertile grounds. Maybe that is what we are so agressive and somewhat prone to commtting violent acts of war.
but never the less, let’s spend our time focusing on looters who are looting perishable items and create a jail for them so we can apear to have some control over this natural disaster, and the fact we as a nation failed to pre-plan accordingly, you know, have busses their to evacuate the people before the actual disaster took place.
oh yeah not to mention the looting and raping of North America if I must say. Sometimes people can be so blind, but I guess when you establish a country with its foundations stained with the blood of innocent people, you begin to believe the lies you were taught as a child and justify them when you know they are inhumane and morally corrupt.
Some people are trying to blame the mayor, but the mayor (METAPHOR, ANALOGY) is to the state, as a school teacher is to a principal.
Limited control over those whom you are responsible for supervising, but the principal (the Sate), and the superintendent (the Feds) are really the ones who can exert control and coerce the citizens of the New Orleans to Evacuate.
In my opinion, I think some people were threatened by strong, EGYPT=black, Nubian, Warrior King Kanye West.
Because think about it only someone who fears not another man, and his army would stand before the mass public and speak his opinion. Mabe you should read some Greek mythology, and you could compare him to one of your gods, not scared of that which oppreses his people, FEARLESS WARRIOR god who will stand up to an enemy, ready to speak his mind.
Some of you will cast your biased judgements, but internally you are jealous that you lack the confidence, and self-esteem needed to speak your mind, so instead you try to rally up other individuals who share the same insecurity as yourself and create some comfort in sharing insecurities with one another and bad mouthing anyone who is against you, even if when standing next to one another, you look the same, same skin tone, same hair makeup. You must hate yourself.
Yeah Mike Meyers looked dumbfounded, what would you say if you were standing next to someone who challenged the views of the nation, when you are nothing but a pawn reading off a teleprompter what the media has instructed you to say to millions of Americans, when 20 other famous people are saying the same thing but with different words. Not only was Mike Meyers caught off guard, he was scared.
Kanye West may have been nervous, but I guarantee you, that none of you, especially those of you who speak so freely of you insecure racist views will never forget, because unlike your statements, Kanye West had a plann, and guess what? It worked, and all of you are like pawns in his plan, you can’t stop talking about it.
You Think, Eat, Sleep and Shit thinking about Kanye West, he’s in your head, and you don’t like it but get used to it, he played you along with everyone else. Kanye West put a charge on everyone’s mind and heart to seriously think about the actions that were taken by our so-called Leader. Kanye West caused us to think about how we so willingly trust everything the gov’t does, and when it’s America’s turn for support whether black or white, the government is moving at a snail’s pace.
With that said, judgement will be set for everyone, and KARMA is alive and real. So all of you that are proud of a history and ancestors that raped a nation, a people, and robbed them from their culture. You sure better pray that their sins are forgiven, because what happened to Africans worlwide in 1492 when Columbus sailed the Ocean Blue, at that same time their was a doctrine that was sent out by the POPE that issued rights for one to conquer and take over a land that was not theirs and use the people as slaves to build them a new nation.
Please believe that when during WWII when we went over to fight the germans. Racism, lynchings, and a wide scale genocide spread out over centuries was going on over here in the Good Ole USA.

    Peace & Blessings to All,
Oh yeah I am a white person, who believes in the truth regardless of what it is, and I challenge my own people to wake up and stop trying to wash out all the bad by stating some of the good, because if you study true history, and not just history from an Western Philosophical perspective you will uncover that our bad deeds outweighs our good by a long shot.

  56. Shakes Says:

Hmmmmmm… Where do i begin? Lets start here:

What part of … “They had there chance to leave and they didnt” dont you people understand. A lot (Not All) had there chance to leave and refused. So now what, we told you to get the fuck out and you didnt … Now we have to run down there in mid shit to help save these people that wouldnt leave? They asked for this. But since it took 4 days to get down there everyone’s bitching that its Bush’s Fault. Not the City, Not the State, Not the Country … One man.

Ummm people … Im sorry to say that one man cant drop the ball this bad. It takes a country to do that. No one stepped up to the plate and got things handled on their own. They waited for the president to talk to his adviseres, cabinent mambers, the house, and everyone else I’m forgetting to get a good idea of what needed to be done. A HUGE rescue mission like that can’t be put together like that in a few hours. Yet thats what everyone expected.

Besides, There wouldn’t be an issue if people got out when they were told to. So now because of their ignorance, It’s our fault that we wern’t down their sooner?

Ok, we tried to come down and we were getting shot at. That doesnt make things any easier and I don’t think anyone in their right mind wanted shot at while trying to help.

I do understand that West’s speech was emotionally driven but, for him to come out and say that George W Bush hates Black People is ignorant. Now, if he had said that George W Bush Hates Niggers … Well I guess I problably couldnt argue with that one because hey, most of us do. White, Red, Black, Green … the Whole ‘igger familly. Color doesnt matter here. Stupidity does and thats the real definition on a nigger.

You people (and you know who you are) need to start getting your facts straight. Stop listening to the media, stop whining about the time it took to get down there and stop assuming our President hates black people. That is ridiculous and West’s statements were as well. Notice I also didnt criticise West for his speech because a lot of people in this country have a tough time with public speaking. President Bush Included. It was West’s statements.

    Start asking yourself questions like:

    1. If I was told to leave my home because a natural disaster was about to happen, would I go if I was told about it and had time to leave?

    2. If a bus was outside my door and i had the opertunity to leave without costing me any money. (it was 3 days away till the first of the month but, we wont get into all that) would I leave then?

    3. If I still didnt leave would it be the Presidents fault if, I wasnt rescued within 12 hours of the disaster?

A lot of good people died as a result of Katrina including the elderly and the sick, this I have no doubt and my heart goes out to their families. But, many people died because of stupidity. Should’nt we ask ourselves, is this such a bad thing? Do we really want people that stupid breeding? I don’t. Hopefully some of you agree.

After all this I still donated money. And I’ll continue to give and lend my assistance because I am a part of this country. It is my duty as a United States Citizen. We will continue to take care of the ignorant people in our society, as we always have.

Well folk’s Im an american, and considered white by race,,

Let’s all be honest here.. There is NO PERSON in this world that hasnt or will not make a Racist remark in there entire lifetime, Please don’t lie to yourselfs and say thats not true…

As for Black and White issue: Well let me let you in on some secret’s here, Im 30 years of age, I had nothing to do with Slavery nor do I Agree with it. But I am labled every single day becuase of it because I hold the title of being WHITE..

Let’s see hear, There isnt a day that don’t go by that I don’t hear other races complain about the WHITE man is agiants us.Frankly thats total crap and is just an excuse to either-A:Be unemployed- B:Sue someone-C:Make the quick cash( sale crack)….

There is Racist every where, white.black, asian ect..Its just easyer to put it off on the so called White man because I guess I had something to do with Slavery, I was born rich,I was gave a better chance.. LoL I had Nothing to do with slavery, wasnt born rich, and sure as hell didnt have anymore chance then anyoe else living in AMERICA…I think it all boils down to morals as to how you grow up and/or make it in life..

  58. chuckers Says:

I’ve got to concur with the latest trend of messages. I see comments that mention that response to 9/11 was far more immediate. This is a whole different beast. Though both were massive tragedies, New Orleans was completely fubarred, and the concept of getting help into an entire town that has lost most of its own ability to maintain itself is a daunting task. Relatively speaking, though the WTC were pretty big as were its neighboring buildings- the rest of NYC was intact, albeit a tad dusty. So it was a bit easier to get to a concentrated cluster of buildings on dry roads, even if they lost officials in the process. Surely NYC wasn’t peppered with snipers during that ordeal. This isn’t about Bush liking New Orleans less. This is about a whole town being wiped out and people being foolish enough to stay there for it.

The biggest problem I see in all of this was the design of the town itself. You have a basin below sea level. Then you have a gulf coast known to breed hurricanes. Let’s build a town in it! Most would’ve said that the levy is there to eliminate any problems but when you look at the arial photos…golly, you were wrong!

On top of this, New Orleans happens to have to have dense clusters of housing and, this being in the south-and factoring in that birds of a feather flock together- most of the inhabitants are black.

So you’ve got a giant basin coincidentially filled with black people surrounded by a ribbon of metal in front of the ocean (just waiting to fill with water when something goes wrong) and when it happens and everything’s f*#%ed up beyond the tolerance of normal moral code.

So help finally manages to ooze into that mess-in-a-making and because stabilizing a town, dragging corpses out, and delivering water by boat with sniper bulled flying overhead isn’t as fast and convenient as a UPS delivery, some random rapper (regardless of race) who thinks he has the credibility to make political judgement says the president doesn’t care about black people.

    …WHAT!?!?

If anything, those who stayed there, regardless of race, didn’t care about themselves enough to get the hell out early-on when they could.

It would have been a lot easier to do absolutely nothing in the efforts. But that didn’t happen. So quit whining about problems and exploiting them against the ‘white man’ and fix your freakin’ problems so they don’t keep becoming catastrophes.

  59. Meagan Says:

Kanye West in no way sounded “IMMATURE” or like a “9-year old”. He sounded like an emothinal black person. I was the same way. white people for the most part are the ones talking that kind of rederick about Kanye West. Let me help you white people to understand. It is hard for us black people to sit back and watch thousands of people who look just like us struggle and there’s nothing we can do to help. Black people are a caring race no matter how much we may hate on each other regularly. We are like family whether we know each other personally or not. When something is wrong with a black person, all black people feel it. I’m not sure if white people have that same bond with each other, but I’m sure you wouldn’t like it if everytime something happened with the race opposite of yours the prresident was there, but then when it was time for your race to be served, you were calld refugees and were forced to wait! Those black people are in no, way, shape, or fashion refugees!!! They are tax-paying American citizens who’s sweat and clood helped to build this country! So now think about that and try to understand the African American struggle. It goes so much deeper than that.

  60. Joe Schmoe Says:

In response to Meagan’s comment posted on Sept. 8, 2005

“It’s hard for you black people to SIT BACK AND WATCH people who look just like you struggle”? Why don’t you GET UP OFF YOUR A** and do something about it instead of SITTING BACK AND WATCHING them struggle. There’s plenty YOU can do about it, so help out instead of bitching about what a racist Bush is.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but if they were seeking REFUGE from a Hurricane and/or Flood wouldn’t that make them REFUGEES? You might want to crack open that dictionary every now and then Meagan.

Tax paying citizens, possibly, but wouldn’t that mean that they had jobs and thus made money? Enough perhaps to buy a tank of gasoline to cart their own asses out of the area when the evacuation notice was issued?

Why do YOU people think YOU are entitled to or owed anything? You’re not, and neither am I for that matter. So quit bitchin’ and go make a difference.

  61. Dascoyne Says:

It seems as if Kayne got flustered because he couldn’t read half the words that came up on the teleprompter (not because of his eyesight but because of his level of education – Have you ever heard him speak in interviews before? He’s not a brilliant man.). Just listen to the opening lines read by Michael Myers – can you imagine Kayne West reading the same material?

To save face Kayne said his own thing. He’d rather look like a dickhead than a moron.

Do you think his appearance on the fundraiser was a result of his personal initiative? Heck no! His agent set it up. In light of his upcoming album it probably seemed like a wise move.

In that video clip I don’t see a man making a heartfelt statement – I see a nervous fella who would rather be home and high than have to endure a reading exam in front of a TV camera.

  62. angela Says:

    dascoyne
if you were making a stand against not only the most powerful man in the u.s. but also the biggest crook how would you be. nice and relaxed i think not but a little nervous just like kanye…..and with that i say you did the right thing mr.west..

  63. Preston Taylor Holmes Says:

Here’s the deal. If any of you have come all up in here and said, “I agree with everything Kwame said,” you are a fucking idiot.

If you go back and watch the video and actually LISTEN to what he said – it’s incomprehensible nonsense followed up with an outright lie – “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”

The fact that so many of you drooling mental midgets have come in here and run off at the mouth about it shows what a pathetic state our country is in. His comments were nothing short of laughable and taking those comments seriously betrays mental illness.

That’s the last word. Comments are now closed.
