Beslan Remembered: Part II

September 3rd, 2005 at 9:46 pm by Preston Taylor Holmes

As has been expected, the one year anniversary of Beslan has been largely ignored by the media in the wake of Katrina (except for here and a few other places). Cox & Forkum remembered:

So did Little Green Footballs – pointing out, as I did earlier this week, the fact that it’s nearly impossible to find a place where the terrorists were referred to as “islamic”. Thanks, Jew and Christian-hating media!

Here’s an AFP story about the anniversary of the horrific slaughter of children in Beslan, Russia, by Islamic terrorists from Chechnya—in which the word “Islam does not appear: Minute of silence marks anniversary of Beslan hostage bloodbath.

BESLAN, Russia (AFP) – Stifling anguished cries, survivors of the Beslan tragedy and relatives of more than 300 dead hostages observed a minute of silence at the ruins of School Number One on the anniversary of the disaster.

Gathering under rain clouds, mourners stood in and around the ruins of the school to observe a minute of silence at 1:05 pm (0905 GMT), the precise moment when Russian rescue forces a year ago launched a chaotic attempt to rescue more than 1,100 hostages.

Only the sound of sobbing interrupted the silence.

Then white balloons were floated into the dark sky, one for each of the 319 hostages who perished, including 186 children, and 12 servicemen. All but one of the 32 gunmen, who had been demanding an end to the war in Chechnya, were also killed in the battle.

See, they were just anti-war militants, and all those children and hostages just perished. Somehow. In a tragedy.

This is yet another reason why you’ll never hear me shed a tear when a journalist – particularly an international journalist – perishes in the line of duty.

Last but not least, What’s a Kyer?who has been on Beslan all week, God bless him – links to this New York Times photo slideshow which provides a detailed narration of the slaughter.

That’s islam – the religion of bayonetting children in the back. The religion of flying airplanes into office buildings. The religion of beheadings. Such a GREAT world religion – if this were the 7th century A.D. Visit Vinnie’s Religion of Peace picture page for a reminder, lest ye forget and actually buy into President Junior’s mullah-ball-licking proclamations about the greatness of the Religion of Peace.

UPDATE:

Froggy also remembered the anniversary and, as usual, has some keen insight.

Also see this Beslan photo gallery at a website set up by survivors and parents of the children slaughtered by islamic terrorists. Tip: JonSmith.

Just a reminder Preston, there are more Muslims in India than in the whole of the Middle East. Never mind Indonesia and many many other countries brimming with folk like you and me that just want to get by. So far we’ve heard very little from them…

It may be counter-productive to label them all savages, be careful what you wish for:wink:

That’s the problem, Chris. I realize that there are muslims who *don’t* approve of bayonetting children in the back, and who don’t subscribe to the violent jihad mandated by their so-called holy book. But where are they? Oh yeah, they’re busy protesting television networks and sending complaints to CAIR about how they’re portrayed in the media.

If you haven’t checked out Robert Spencer’s Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam and the Crusades, it’s a must read.
