U.S. Hostage Roy Hallums Sprung
September 7th, 2005 at 12:09 pm by Preston Taylor HolmesRoy Hallums has been set free.
Roy Hallums called from Baghdad on Wednesday, Susan Hallums told CNN.
A Web site devoted to the hostage said “Roy IS FREE!!!!!! 9/7/05.” The U.S. military confirmed Hallums was rescued.
“He said that he was well, and he was heading home soon,” the ex-wife said.
Speaking by phone from her home in California, she told CNN he said he had been “tied and bound” outside Falluja, a city in the western province of Anbar, in a farmhouse and cannot walk well.
Otherwise, he said he is doing OK, she told CNN.
Obviously, this is great news.
The Jawa Report is also on the case – you may remember Rusty’s interviews with Roy’s family here and here.

It’s wonderful: My uncle Roy is returning to Memphis this Saturday, where I’m sure a rack of Corky’s (his fave spot) ribs will await him. Thank God. So excited right now, I can barely type. Thank you all who have kept Roy in your prayers. Having grown up around the man, I can tell you he’s one of the kindest, most decent human beings I’ve ever met. My cousin Amanda is on cloud 9 right now, as is her little girl Sabrina, who told my Uncle that she’s “already celebrating in her head.” –Bowden
