Football Saturday

October 1st, 2005 at 2:54 pm by Preston Taylor Holmes

I’ve been out of touch for most of the week on vacation – and spent all of Friday on the road, which kept me from putting together Football Friday. I would like to thank Smantix for continuing to kick ass here on a regular basis. Hopefully those of you who rely on my ill-informed prognostications were able to find betting help elsewhere.

I’m too late to throw out college picks, which is a shame, since I went 4/5 last week. I was quite happy to lose the LSU pick, though. In the pros, I was 2/5, which obviously sucks. That won’t stop me from picking this week, though. The Indianapolis Colts come to Nashville tomorrow with a great defense and a so-so offense. Looks like Peyton has decided to wear a skirt this year, for some reason. I’m optimistic that the Colts’ offensive woes will continue tomorrow and we’ll be able to steal a win at home, 17-12. Probably wishful thinking, but I hate the freakin’ Colts. Elsewhere:

  • New England 30, San Diego, 20 – The Pats will remind the Chargers that they’re not just has-beens, they’re never-wases.
  • Philadelphia 27, Kansas City 20 – Donovan will eat his chunky soup tomorrow.
  • New Orleans 24, Buffalo 12 – Saints will get an emotional win for their first home game of the year. If I really cared, I’d say something uniting like, WE ARE ALL SAINTS FANS NOW. But they still suck, and we’re not.
  • Tampa Bay 22, Detroit 14 – I’m getting the feeling that Joey Heatherton sucks. Not sure why because I haven’t seen a Lions’ game this year.

I must now get back to the UT/Ole Miss game where the Vols lead 20-3, late in the third quarter. The Vols started out hot in this one, but have since gone cold as a cucumber. I’m getting the feeling that we’re treating this game like a scrimmage to get as many reps for the offense as possible with Clausen under center in preparation for Georgia next week. Makes for a boring game, but will hopefully go a long way in getting some offensive production against the Bulldogs next week.
