Commies In Space (space..space..space)
October 14th, 2005 at 7:28 pm by SmantixDrunk from the victory of lifting the designs of a 40 year old Soviet space program, Communist China is breaking out the firecrackers to celebrate not killing two of their cosmonauts yet.
The mission, launched Wednesday, is China’s second manned spaceflight. It is meant to pave the way for the eventual construction of a Chinese space station as well as trumpet the nation’s ambitions as global power.
The secrecy-obsessed government hasn’t announced when the astronauts will return to Earth.
I know, I know. Communists don’t exist anymore you stupid neo-McCarthyite!
Beijing attaches enormous national prestige to its space program, which is closely linked to the military. The project appeals to nationalist sentiment at a time of rising public frustration over endemic corruption and a widening rich-poor gap.
The mission “glorifies the Communist Party and the motherland,” CCTV said.
So far the ChiComs have rejected joining in the International TreeHouse Mir project as they fear their “taikonauts†may find the Outer Space accommodations “too roomy†and not as intellectually confining as the Cyber Space they rule with an iron fist.

[...] ….well, except for my little brother Gordon who’s been corrupted by hanging out with that no good Preston. And that Smantix individual is just a snark machine. Little does Gordon know that the Yemeni government file on Jane is now going to include (in the section under family, which lists Gordon) the note “brother corrupted.” Said Jane @ 9:31 pm | Permalink No Comments » [...]
