Vivi - De La Soul's version of "3 is a Magic Number" is one of my favorites.

And D, do you remember the afterschool-special-style show "You Can Do It, Duffy Moon!"

Gee, thanks Preston, ever since this post, I have a potpourri of kiddy tunes playing incessantly in my head---most unrelated to Electric Company. The one that WILL NOT go away is "Three is a Magic Number."

That sure takes me back, Preston. It also reminded me of another "classic", the movie Free to Be You and Me that we watched in elementary school every year.

I went to check it out on Amazon. OH MY GOD! Harry Belafonte? Alan Alda?

It is absolutely amazing that I grew up to be the way I am today! Hippie parents, hippie school system. I'd be outraged if they showed this piece of crap to my kids today!

Thanks Preston! Thanks for the memories!

Not to mention that it had new songs from the brilliant Tom Lehrer - "Silent E" and "L-Y."

I'm not old nor a bastard; therefore, I don't have a clue what you're talking about, but I do know you should be giving your kids the Schoolhouse Rocks! DVDs as well.

Not sure why our TB did not show up, but anyway, great stuff, and great info. We are fully behind the Elec Co and think everyone should get it on DVD. All we ask is do not get it a BEST BUY!!! As the big blue box is pure evil.

6MB, you tapped a pop culture vein today.

Electric Company rocked. It was cooler than Sesame Street. And it's where I first saw of Morgan Freeman and, I think, Rita Moreno.

I've got so many memories. Where to start:
1) "I'd like to make a toast" (and the guy picks up a piece of toast)....;
2) the animated spot, "I'd like _____ and a sweet roll" "Sorry, sir, we don't have any sweet rolls." "OK, I'd like ____ and a sweet roll" (over and over till the waitress runs away screaming)
3) another animated spot, "Elbow Room, elbow room, got to got to get us some elbow room" (w/ the Louisiana Purchase and moon landings)
4) another animated spot about how a bill moves through Congress and becomes a law.
