I was there, when I should have been in class 600 miles away, which explains a lot about what happened afterwards. But, Michel has it about right. It was/is a shithole, the most degraded, degrading and casually dangerous place I've ever been. It will not please me to spend more money on the place without having any of the fun. You whippersnappers don’t remember the Mardi Gras of 1964. I was there, when I should have been in class 600 miles away, which explains a lot about what happened afterwards.

The only thing keeping the area up are tourists. For the few hundred tourists who, every year, wander off Bourbon Street and get mugged, that is the price you pay for allowing the surrounding 'community' to get fat and lazy on government cheese.
