I too am all for donating, and do my share. However I also despise those bulk mailings. I have learned that when it comes to bulk mail the “companies” pay postage fees according to what is returned. Therefore if they send you a return envelope and you return it either empty or filled with other junk mail then they must pay. Filling them with other junk mail is one of my favorite ways to get removed from their mailing list.

Feed the Children is a great organization.
One thing to consider when making a donation is how much of that money goes to the actual charity. When it comes to feeding children and some adults, I have no problem adding my few bucks. Nobody should go hungry.

Hope Preston will consider sending me out a “joke a day” email, effen he gives up blogging for lent.

This really wasn’t meant to be an indictment of charities/non-profits. It was just one of the few things that have inspired me to post lately.

There are plenty of good charities out there, and I have no idea if Feed the Children is one of them.

It just provided some blog fodder. Feeling uninspired lately, you know.

I gave up contributing to charities about 10 years ago and, you know what? I liked it so much that I continued doing it all year round.
I worked for a not-for-profit teen intervention company and saw the dirty side of the Liberal world.
I can’t help but think that every charity is run by a Cindy Sheehan clone who runs around her office all day in Birkenstocks.

You know, taking on an additional burden is just as valid a lenten sacrifice as choosing a deprivation.

I recommend increasing your number of daily posts. It’s the Christian thing to do.

Let me say that when it comes to legitmate charities that I believe in, I am a generous donator. But when it comes to bulk mail extortion from the likes of Sally Struthers, I get sickened. It’s my job to feed my children, PERIOD! It should be the same for everyone else, regardless of where you come from. To grovel for assistance is discgraceful to me. I couldn’t live with the shame of having to beg for a hand out.
