Do you think for a second that any of those models that demo the Bowflex in that commercial have ever used the machine prior to taping the ad spot?! Not a chance!! They come straight from the free-weight racks. You’re not going to get in that kind of shape doing resistance training for 20 minutes a day, 3 times a week by using a stupid cable-pulley machine! I should know… I’m 5’11, 190lbs, 5% bodyfat. And it’s also funny how they never mention a word about proper diet or doing cardio exercise either!! Bowflex is bullshit!! Trust me.

On a serious note, I am always disgusted by the tactics of the junk food advertisers. They will stop at nothing to make the worst products look so appealing to a captive audience of kids. Luckily, i’ve already programmed my kids to understand that the word “NO!” is not negotiable. “Dabby, can we get some… ‘NO!’”

We get the “Mom, can you got to http://www.nick.com and go to the Fairly Oddparents game? It looks really cool. I saw it on the commercial.” Or, “Can we go to http://www.cheetos.com? There are kids’ games there, but I need an adult to help me. The commercial said so.”

Preston, you beat me to my post about the eeevils of child marketing. Have you heard of Millsberry? It is the General Mills kid's site. To them, it looks like a fun world where you create characters and do activities, to them it is a goldmine of marketing information.
