Camel-humping Iranian asshole Mohammed Taheri-azar is proud to be “spreading the will of allah” by running over students with an SUV. Golly-gosh, I hope Mohammed doesn’t give islam a black eye with this attempted murder.

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — A man who authorities said confessed to deliberately hitting nine people on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus told a 911 dispatcher that he committed the act to “punish the government of the United States for [its] actions around the world,” according to a 911 call released Monday.

The 911 call was released the same day that Taheri-azar appeared before an Orange County judge and the same day that some UNC students protested the university’s and media’s reluctance to call Friday’s incident a “terrorist act.”

In court Monday morning, Taheri-azar, a 2005 UNC graduate, said he’s “thankful for the opportunity to spread the will of Allah.”

He did not deny driving a rented silver Jeep Grand Cherokee onto the UNC campus and hitting nine people. Six people were taken to UNC Hospitals with non-critical injuries, and three people were treated at the scene.

Smiling and waving as he left court, where he was appointed a public defender, Taheri-azar told reporters, “The truth is my lawyer.” When asked if he was trying to kill people, he said yes.

This story is actually working out beautifully for the leftists in the Old Media. The fact that the vehicle involved was an SUV helps the story fit their template of SUV = Evil, therefore terrorist not really a terrorist. Consequently, when there has been coverage, and there hasn’t been much nationally, it’s been in the context of “Evil SUV runs over students,” with no mention of the maniacal goat-raping mohammad behind the wheel.

Mrs. Holmes called me tonight to ask me about the incident, but I didn’t know any details. Quite frankly, since I started a new job recently, I haven’t had time to keep up with the news, much less blogs and blogging, so I’m out of the loop for some time to come it appears. If you’re looking for details on this one, Mary Katherine Ham has got ‘em. She notes that the story isn’t getting much play…

I’m interested to see how the UNC campus reacts to this incident. It’s getting surprisingly little national press. The Washington Post covered it Saturday, but seems not to have a follow-up. A search in the NYT comes up empty.

Even the Raleigh paper below-the-folded the incident today.

As a matter of fact, students at UNC are getting pretty pissed-off that UNC and local authorities aren’t referring to the attempted murder as a terrorist act and held a protest earlier today at the scene of the crime.
