So the season is over for my beloved roundball Vols. Hats off to the Wichita State Shockers for bringing the noise. I had a feeling the run would be over today, but I must remind my fellow Vol fans not to despair.

I must remind them that – given the team that Bruce Pearl inherited – this team has overachieved all season long. They worked hard and left it out on the court all year – they had simply run out of gas at the end of the season. It was a team without depth but with plenty of guts.

If you had told me before the season that we would beat Kentucky at Rupp, sweep the Gaytors and make the NCAA Tournament, I would have taken it in a heartbeat. I’ll still take it. Thanks to the team for a great season – and as long as Bruce sticks around, this is only the beginning of a long string of excellent roundball. We’ll be in the Sweet 16 next year, and you can take that to the bank, biotch.

March Madness Update….

After completion of the first round (and part of today’s action), Gunner still sits atop the standings, but is joined by Matt and Morrison’s Stache. Phil and I are tied in fourth place, with the rest of the field sniffing our fumes.

I’ve already lost 4 of my Sweet 16 teams, though, so it’s only gonna get uglier for me.
