I got what I wanted from Bush — i.e., War on Terror (instead of just burying our heads); Two possibly Three Supreme Court Justices and some tax cuts.

We were all played, Crankster. And we’re still gettin’ played. I’m considering abandoning state and local elections this year as well. Even though I know you can have more of an impact at the local level, the trickle-down despair caused by self-interested politicians at all levels has taken its toll on me.

You know, I just feel ripped off. As a cynical kid, I didn’t vote because “they’re all thieves” was my mantra.

Then I caught caught up in the ideological hoopla, believing that “our ideas are better than theirs.”

I still do, but when I see stuff like this, I can’t help but feel like I was played for a sucker.

Never before in my lifetime have I felt that the government of the United States was illegitimate. Now I do. Various administrations have been awful, stupid, ineffective or arrogant, which is to say Johnson or Carter (and I even remember Harry Truman), but they pale in comparison to this gang of bums…from the Executive Office through both Houses of Congress. Absolutely dreadful.
