The Moussaoui Verdict

May 3rd, 2006 at 8:28 pm by Cranky

Perhaps you’ve noticed the light posting? Sorry, but it turns out Preston threw his back out moving a side of beef.

Smantix temporarily got religion and swore off meat. If he follows his typical pattern, he’ll be back from the ashram by Saturday.

All that to say that we got no post on Moussaoui. But dont worry. The best bloggers are already all over it.

As usual, My Pet Jawa is your Grand Central Station for the news. From there, you can also find some great links and link roundups.

UPDATE:

(Preston here)

All I really have to say about the verdict is that it’s completely unsurprising. This is what would happen if we took all the little islamists from their chicken coops at Gitmo and trotted them before the Red Diaper Doper Baby judges and their aiding-and-abetting-attorneys.

The bottom line is that we shouldn’t even know Moussaoui’s name. He should be a corpse either feeding the sharks or pushin’ up daisies right now. But instead, he’s a hero of the left, because any defeat for President Junior is a victory for the politicial left in this country.

Let this be a lesson to you, Junior. You want to turn terrorists into defendants in our injustice system, this is what you get. Enjoy the aftertaste.

UPDATE 2:

When Peggy Noonan says fry him, you know it was a bad decision.

No one wants to say, “They should have killed him.” This is understandable, for no one wants to be called vengeful, angry or, far worse, unenlightened. But we should have put him to death, and for one big reason.

This is what Moussaoui did: He was in jail on a visa violation in August 2001. He knew of the upcoming attacks. In fact, he had taken flight lessons to take part in them. He told no one what was coming. He lied to the FBI so the attacks could go forward. He pled guilty last year to conspiring with al Qaeda; at his trial he bragged to the court that he had intended to be on the fifth aircraft, which was supposed to destroy the White House.

He knew the trigger was about to be pulled. He knew innocent people had been targeted, and were about to meet gruesome, unjust deaths.

He could have stopped it. He did nothing. And so 2,700 people died.

Where Is Our Generation’s Jack Ruby?…

I am angry almost beyond words. A federal jury decided today that Sept. 11, 2001, conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui should be sentenced to life in prison, rejecting government arguments that he should be executed for his role in the deadliest terrorist……

I absolutely LOVE what you wrote here…..It is most excellent!!!!

The sentence is a clear lesson to our armed forces and to our intelligence services. *Don’t capture; Kill.*

Rather than spending inordinate amounts of money and providing a platform for political and theological rants, if Moussaoui had been killed while resisting arrest, we would not have had to endure his ranting and would not have to spend the moneys to try him and the moneys (about $100 thousand per year for 30 to 60 years) to incarcerate him.

Imagine if Saddam had been killed while resisting arrest!! No ranting! And, it would have the added probable bonus of less resistance (especially from the Bathist party) to the democritization of Iraq.

  4. Swamp Rabbit Says:

This is just one more reason why we should just start shooting these people already.

[...] The boys over at Six Meat Buffet have a nice piece of work on this one as well – here -. I have to concur on their point that if Peggy N is saying the decsion is bad you have to question it. Got to love the red diaper doper baby line as well. [...]

  6. reverse_vampyr Says:

    Moussaoui’s Daily Schedule in Supermax…

6:00am – Wake up to audio broadcast of The 700 Club
6:30am – Shower and shave (no more scraggly beard)
    6:35am – Gang-raped in the shower
    7:00am – Breakfast (bacon, sausage)

  7. jbl1955 Says:

“[Moussaoui is] a hero of the left”

Oh, yeah, sure. The lefty blogosphere is all over this, praising ol’ what’s-his-name and printing his image on T-shirts.

  8. Cranky Says:

    Give it time.

Go to DemocracyNow.org and you’ll find this headline: Jury Rejects Death Penalty for Moussaoui in Major Defeat for Bush Administration

Doesn’t really go into Moussaoui’s guilt or innocence, does it? Sounds more like a Howard Dean talking point.

  9. Smantix Says:

Shut up, Jen. You were the one sitting here saying he was a nobody. Nay, innocent! Well not every “nobody” takes flight classes for al Qaeda. Maybe they just have a better mail-order correspondence course than the one you took for Leftard Logic and Islamofascist Apologism.
