Free Scooter Libby

July 12th, 2006 at 11:16 am by Smantix

Bob “Woodward & Bernstein” Novak has penned his traitorous confession that is putting the “lame” in Plamegate inside of today’s Human Events:

In my sworn testimony, I said what I have contended in my columns and on television: Joe Wilson’s wife’s role in instituting her husband’s mission was revealed to me in the middle of a long interview with an official who I have previously said was not a political gunslinger. After the federal investigation was announced, he told me through a third party that the disclosure was inadvertent on his part.

Following my interview with the primary source, I sought out the second administration official and the CIA spokesman for confirmation. I learned Valerie Plame’s name from Joe Wilson’s entry in “Who’s Who in America.”

I considered his wife’s role in initiating Wilson’s mission, later confirmed by the Senate Intelligence Committee, to be a previously undisclosed part of an important news story. I reported it on that basis.

And there you have it. How many tens of millions of taxpayer dollars were lost to figure out that blown-dry blowhard Joe Wilson outed his own wife with the help of a reporter who investigated a public record?

That’s just textbook reporting much to the consternation of hypocrites who wanted Karl Rove frogmarching to prison for the crime of winning elections. Novak contacted a CIA spokesperson who inadvertently confirmed a name that he was able to find in a Who’s Who listing. Yet Bill Keller wants to claim that Treasury didn’t really, really try to keep him from releasing covert information of terrorist financing investigations abroad.

End the illegal war the New York Times is raising against the United States. Free Scotter Libby. Arrest Pinch Sulzberger and Bill Keller!

  2. brittney Says:

WHO’s WHO did not say that Plame was covert or worked for the CIA. Novak did, and someone leaked that to him.

What we’re going to deal with here are called “facts” not wistful speculations.

Fact #1: Fitzgerald knew all of the particulars in this case from the onset.

Fact #2: After years of investigating and millions of dollars, no indictments were handed down on anyone for outing Nancy Drew 9-to-5 Ninja. Now correct me here – this was an investigation about a covert operative right? Then whey is no one charged with outing a covert operative?

Fact #3: What has been revealed is far short of a coordinated getback ordered like a pizza from the White House to punish Joe Wilson for being such a courageous Truth-Teller(tm).

I love the way you keep staring up at the rooftop expecting Santa Fitz to cannonball down your chimney but much like the Easter Bunny, a state income tax, and a Russ Feingold presidency – it just ain’t gonna happen.

Too bad, so sad. Oh dad.

  4. brittney Says:

I don’t expect anything (anymore). Regardless of what you’ve written above this fact remains: WHO’s WHO did not say that Plame was covert or worked for the CIA. Novak did, and someone leaked that to him.

Then whey is no one charged with outing a covert operative?

It either didn’t happen or Fitzgerald didn’t have enough evidence to indict. I’m inclined to go with the latter, especially after watching this PBS Frontline piece called, “The Dark Side.” If you haven’t seen it, I recommend it heartily.

Sure Brittney, and I recommend Kevin Barret’s version of 9/11 as well.

Anyway. It sounds as if Who’s Who provided the answer to the question “Who is Joe Wilson’s Wife”. That is, it sounds like Novak’s original source said “Joe’s wife got him that date to sit around a hotel swimming pool to drink mint tea all day long” since it was obvious it was a CIA mission (“Mission Minty Tea”) it was just a simple lookup in Who’s Who to find out who Joe’s wife is.

It always was much ado about nothing. Especially in comparison to what the NYT is up to now-a-days.

  8. Lokki Says:

Then whey is no one charged with outing a covert operative?

    How about:

Because she wasn’t covert or that there was no danger to her or national security in publishing her name?

Consider this – If the CIA representative had thought that there would be harm to national security, he probably would have asked Novak not to publish.

  9. Smantix Says:

Yea. I’d heard you highly recommended that.

So is Truthout still a valid source of material? I mean Case CC156 v Unknown v. Unknown is still under wraps because the Undocumented Earthlings who’ve been sending binary codes through my fillings can’t be prosecuted under US law.

They’re asking for donations at the top of their page so they can continue to be your one stop Crackpottery Barn.

  10. Marcus Aurelius Says:

    Lokki,

We have a bit of the same thing going on between Novak and the CIA guy that went on between Keller and the Govt. Novak is convinced CIA guy didn’t push all that hard on the non-publication of Plame’s name and the CIA guy says otherwise.

Don’t you all worry. The Moonbats are still convinced outing the Minty Tea Guy is still the most ultimate security breach ever possible (ever ever ever) but the financial monitoring thing is nothing. The fact that Fitzgerald has nothing significant to do doesn’t mean otherwise in their “reality based world”.
