Francesca bean,

I know how you feel and I'm sorry for your loss. I'll remember both that similarly traumatic day :(, and the innumerable great memories :D, of my old friend until I meet my own demise. 8O

HI, I am the sister of Preston and I am here to say that putting my best friend to sleep was the hardest thing I have ever had to do and this blog and your comments really mean alot to me. I love the dog\'s prayer. Wish I could rub, pet, run with my girl one more time. She was so sweet and easy to love to say the least. The bunny in the photo was a VERY DEAR friend of hers and they played with each other on a daily basis. very sweet together. The bunny is fine :) They were the best of pals. That is the kind of sweet and gentle dog she was. I miss her so much. THANKS FOR THIS POSTING so very much PTH!!!!!! Francesca

There is no emptiness, nothing as unfilled as the breach in your heart left by the loss of an aged pet. I've loved dogs...and cats too, which is a heresy for dog lovers, I know, but they offer different things.

I've always buried them at home, and we've left a trail of little graves when me moved again and again. I think about them more than the homes we lived in.

The bond between man and dog is one unlike any other; for those who've felt the loss we know there is little we can do but offer our support and sympathy.

That dogs and man have that bond is further evidence of a creator; the comments and poems from others here is further evidence. Thank God for another day, and thank God for the goodness and companionship we find in our dogs.

My sympathy to all who've lost their dog-buddies. RIP to your sister's best buddy.

You\'re all very kind, but my sister is the one who needs cheering up. I\'ll send your comments on as I\'m sure she\'ll appreciate them.

And Duncan - I just checked out Scooby - looked like a great dog too. Sorry for your loss.

... would a picture of the tiniest toad in the world, or at least in my lawn, make anything better?

Please send on the picture.

ps I would have sent on my sympathies sooner Pres, but I then it dawned on me that I'm an insufferable pr*ck.

Did seem like a sweet, intelligent dog.
