In reference to “Welcome Back, Kotter”, “Juan Epstein” was Jewish from both sides of his family.

I recall him mentioning to someone that he was a Puerto Rican Jew. The other person said “I assume it’s your father that’s Jewish”. Epstein answered “My mother too. Her maiden name is Bibberman.”
