Crap - now I see that Drudge is using the "One Night in Bangkok" line. Here I thought I was on to something unique and all you scumbags blow up my idea. I quit.

Billy - you filthy SOB. I have a Murray Head post set to go up in an hour. I set it up this morning. Here you go stealing my idea. Unbelieveable.

No wonder you're always hanging around here. We obviously think alike.

Looks like this string is finally running out of steam. Cranky and Sharon, it's been great going Tubing with ya.

In light of recent events, here is my suggestion for another You Tube string:

Billy,
I LOVE that song and video. The TW were a great band.

Gordon,
Sad but true about the kids of icons. Jakob could be outstanding and he'd still never be good enough. Look at Sean and Dhani. Sean has a new cd out, but I don't know anyone who has purchased it. Dhani is also a musician, as is James McCartney, but we never hear anything about them. Only Zac Starkey has been a successful (in the music biz) Beatles' kid, and that's because he's a drummer for The Who and a lot of people don't even realize who he is, which is probably fine with him.

The kids shouldn't need to carry on the torch of their parents.

I think it was P.J. O'Rourke who said that Jakob Dylan could sing well and people could understand his lyrics. And he was *criticized* for being "nothing like his dad".

"On the other hand, the pressure would be beyond intense."

See, this is the problem when musicians take themselves too seriously. I agree with you, there would probably be too much scrutiny on the kids to pull it off.

I would loved to have seen a reunion in the 80's after John died. But I suspect that egos and "artistic differences" never really would have made this reality.

Above all...music should be fun. What is great is when a bunch of great musicians can all come together and just play great music without egos getting in the way. Sort of like this:

Hi Billy,
At the end of the Anthology, Paul addresses why he wouldn't do a reunion tour with Julian or Sean. It's when they're all sitting around the table in the last segment.
I have thought, however, it would be interesting to see Julian, Dhani (George's son) James (Paul's son) and Zac (Ringo's son who plays with The Who) get together. On the other hand, the pressure would be beyond intense.
There was a slight chance of a sort of Beatles reunion when George was still alive, but without John and George, it could never happen. Paul and Ringo have played together many times since both have died, including on a couple of Paul cds, as well as playing together for the Concert For George. (GREAT concert--rent the DVD if you haven't seen it)
As John said, "The dream is over..."

Uh, no...I don't think I ever did that. I have about 700 CDs...and quite a few of them are 70's and 80's compilations.

If there was a hit song (good or bad)in those two decades, there is a VERY good chance I have it.

More on Julian Lennon...I was a HUGE fan of his back in the day. I bought his first three albums (vinyl). I don't know if I was mesmerized by how much he sounded like his father or if I just liked his videos.

Three decent albums...then he falls off the face of the planet.

I kept hearing rumors of a Beatles reunion tour with him taking his daddy's spot on stage...but I guess Paul kept nixing that idea.

Sharon, any insight on that? Since we know you are the big McCartney fan...

How did you spot that?

BTW, I think the Jumping Dude is supposed to be his father.

True story, my sister was hanging out at a club in downtown San Jose one night when a limo pulls up and young Julian comes out. She said he was there looking to buy some cocaine. Not surprising, just disappointing.

Say, Billy, didn't you publish a list of all the CDs you have? If so, do you mind putting the link up again?
