Hi Billy,
Thanks for the info. I’ve emailed The Jewish Federation, which was quite active in the DC rally. Also, Monday night I am meeting with Paul Rusesabagina. He is the man Don Cheadle played in Hotel Rwanda. I am sure he’ll have extraordinary advice for me.
I’ll report on his speech and my personal meeting with him on my blog.
Also, at Darfurgenocide.com, there are several people who spent 6 weeks there with the approval of the Sudanese government. I have a phone appointment on Friday with one of the people who went.
Regarding “media” sending me:
If if I could get Nicole Richie or Anna Nicole Smith to go with me, then we’d have a news story.

How very very kind of you. I prefer not to handle any money so the integrity of the piece (and mine) can never be questioned.
What I think I’m going to do is have any funds go to my Rabbi to hold until the trip, and if the trip doesn’t come off, then all monies will be returned. I need to check with him first to see if that is okay with him.

Like I said, I’m not afraid of dying. I’m afraid of living with myself if I didn’t do anything. As a Jew, how can I do anything but go? The Jewish community has been very active (of course it doesn’t get press coverage) in trying to stop the genocide. Of all the people on the planet, we know genocide. We said, “Never again,” and when we said it, it didn’t just apply to Jews.
I don’t know if you’ve heard of Rabbi Saperstein, but he spoke yesterday in Memphis about this. He is very involved in DC, and he is on a short list of people who are going to try to get me over there. I’m going to talk with Paul Rusesabagina (Don Cheadle played him in Hotel Rwanda) on Monday, Sept 25 and get his advice on how to best get over there and do this. I *did* find an experienced cameraman today who will go. For those in Nashville, Mike Sechrist from WKRN wrote he can’t send me, with no explanation. “No” is just the first two letters of “not yet” in this situation.
Cranky-I didn’t mean to shatter your views, which BTW, aren’t really bigoted. Unfortunately, most libs make a lot of noise without following through with a lot of action.
I’ve never been one to sit on the sidelines and (just) whine without getting up and getting in the game, even if going in I know I’m going to get knocked down.
Fear is lack of faith.

Cranky, I have a good one myself. We have a missionary team from our church on the ground in Pakistan as we speak. They have been there for a little over a week, and I have had my nose to the newsboard continually, fearing the worst, but knowing in my mind that God is in control.
