Saturday Night Harry, Sunday Morning Harold

October 15th, 2006 at 12:02 pm by Smantix

I don’t care how slick Harold Ford, Jr’s biggest cheerleaders say he is. George Stephanopoulos made him look like a fool on This Week by asking him questions that the Tennessee press has refused to for his entire campaign. Of course, I’m blind – he probably blew everybody away with the sheer force of his charisma and not at all put off by his stuttered subject changing. Which is really no surprise as the Tennessee Press has effectively been in Democrat control since inception and statewide tv stations are little more than farm teams for Donk campaign flacks. And, who true to form, threw their support on Today’s Editorial Page behind Ford almost a month before the election.

The Tennessean today strongly endorses U.S. Rep. Harold Ford Jr. for the United States Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Bill Frist.
[...]
By electing Ford, Tennesseans have an opportunity to help set the country on a positive new course.
[...]
Tennesseans have an opportunity in this election to make a statement to the nation. The state should seize that opportunity…Tennesseans have that candidate in Harold Ford Jr.

Gee, I wonder how they will color their coverage in the weeks left to go before the election. Quite a ringing local endorsement considering Ford has had to raise almost 70% of his campaign cash out of state.

When asked by the diminuitive George about filming a campaign ad in a church and handing out business cards with the 10 Commandments on the back, why, he was only sending the message that he knows “right from wrong”. And again repeating his own slander that Republicans are bankrolled by child molesters – his coined reference to the Mark Foley scandal. Which is really news to most of us the way he’s phrasing it as I didn’t know the Mark Foley had John Kerry and Herb Kohl sized ducats.

When confronted about whether he is “pro-life” he didn’t want to get into the semantics of when life begins as he claimed that he voted against partial birth abortion 7 times in the last ten years but here is his real record:

Education before pregnancy to reduce abortions. (Oct 2006)
Voted YES on allowing human embryonic stem cell research. (May 2005)
Voted YES on restricting interstate transport of minors to get abortions. (Apr 2005)
Voted NO on making it a crime to harm a fetus during another crime. (Feb 2004)
Voted YES on banning partial-birth abortion except to save mother’s life. (Oct 2003)
Voted NO on funding for health providers who don’t provide abortion info. (Sep 2002)
Voted NO on banning Family Planning funding in US aid abroad. (May 2001)
Voted NO on federal crime to harm fetus while committing other crimes. (Apr 2001)
Voted YES on banning partial-birth abortions. (Apr 2000)
Voted YES on barring transporting minors to get an abortion. (Jun 1999)

That’s walking a tight rope, folks. That’s the famed “triangulation” strategy. You don’t want to offer any protections to a baby in the womb at all but like the vast majority of Americans you vote against Partial Birth Abortion.

Saying that minors being transported across state lines to get abortions is not conservative. It’s plain old human decency, or “right and wrong”, and barely that. That so many underage kids are getting pregnant from statuory rapists who want to collude in transporting them to another state wit so Planned Parenthood can tacitly condone child rape should be grounds to raid every PP office in the country yesterday.

Given Ford’s commercial stance on immigration, criticizing Corker for having a site that had a couple of illegals on it two decades ago, you’d think he spends his spare time hanging barbed wire with the Minutemen. But again – here’s his real stance:

Claims Corker hired four illegal immigrants. (Oct 2006)
Voted YES on preventing tipping off Mexicans about Minuteman Project. (Jun 2006)
Voted NO on reporting illegal aliens who receive hospital treatment. (May 2004)
Voted YES on extending Immigrant Residency rules. (May 2001)
Voted YES on more immigrant visas for skilled workers. (Sep 1998)

That’s really tough on immigration, Reverend Gotti, Jr. Tipping off foreign nationals to where they can get around the border.

Stephopottamous went on to ask about the “notorious” Ford Crime Family that’s been rigging elections in Memphis for the last 4 decades (up to and including right now), numerous bribery scandals, and ensuring a Ford owned the seat. I saw Ford earlier this summer before the Democratic primary and his boilerplate remains unchanged – “I can’t choose my family but I wuv them no matter what”.

Well, of course you do asshole. The spoils of their decades long fraud and racebaiting is what sent you to St. Albans and Ivy League colleges. The spoils that handed you your Father’s seat the next election after he was drummed out under a dark cloud. You owe your entire career to your family’s corruption that has consigned Memphis to failure and disgrace.

Thanks for showing us the obfuscating faux-thumper who is trying to successfully steal Howard Dean’s idea to pretend Democrats are good Christians, Jorge. I’m sure it was strictly unintentional as your boss has been helping him campaign for most of the year.

Slick Harry

I did not vote for Corker in the primary but I have enough faith in the people of this state to rebuke allowing the Stain of The Ford Crime Family to spill over the rest of us.
