Tortured Apologies
October 15th, 2006 at 1:30 pm by SmantixSo this is what it sounds like when doves cry?
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton called John McCain yesterday to personally apologize and denounce comments an adviser of hers reportedly made slamming the GOP senator over his time in captivity in Vietnam.
What’s there to apologize for? Something “a staffer” may or may not have said? Do what you always do Hillary – shoot ‘em in the head and drop the weapon in their lap. Make the police think it’s a suicide.
The adviser said Team Clinton thought McCain was doing the White House’s dirty work by criticizing the Clintons and ended up “looking similar to the way he did on those captive tapes from Hanoi, where he recited the names of his crewmates.“
Ah..what’s so reprehensible with calling your drinking buddy the same as the guys who would stick bamboo shoots up his buddies’ fingernails, electroshock them and force them to denounce their country? Criticizing Bubba’s Bribery Diplomacy? Same diff.
The comments about McCain’s prisoner-of-war days put Clinton’s camp in damage-control mode with five weeks left in the 2006 cycle, at a time when everyone around her has stayed on-message.
Who needs damage control? When a strong, feminist Senator gets elected after her sham marriage to a philandering husband is exposed. Who keeps a cigar box full of dirty BBW undergarments on the night stand from women who he cheated on you with – I mean, really. What can you say that they will be offended by?
But speaking of “doing other people’s dirty work”.
