Tighten your tinfoil hat and work with me people. I see Karl’s fingerprints all over this.
The New York Times, in highly predictable form, publishes an article damning the Bush administration for posting critical information on atomic weapons.
Of course the information the administration published came from … wait for it … Saddam Hussain’s Iraq.
Among the dozens of documents in English were Iraqi reports written in the 1990’s and in 2002 for United Nations inspectors in charge of making sure Iraq abandoned its unconventional arms programs after the Persian Gulf war. Experts say that at the time, Mr. Hussein’s scientists were on the verge of building an atom bomb, as little as a year away.
This is a point that the New York Times has to include even if it is buried in the 14th paragraph.
Now all the Administration has to say is, “Oops, I have no idea how that got there!” then sit back and watch the blogs and talk radio people make the case that these nuclear plan justified the invasion.
My prediction, this will be the topic on the Sunday morning news shows and on the National news by Monday.
Many good bloggers have been on this since last night (start with Stop the ACLU and work the links). But none as far as I can see have given thanks the the man who makes it all happen.
Here’s to you, Karl!
