California Ballot Initiative Guide

November 6th, 2006 at 9:22 pm by annika

I’m abusing Preston’s hospitality to pimp my own guide to California’s ballot propositions. Out here in the Golden State, we’re not in a position to affect the balance of power in Congress much. DiFi will probably be returned to the Senate with a vote percentage that would rival Saddam’s back in the day. And in my own Congressional District, Matsui’s widow will easily win re-election, despite voting in lock-step with the Democratic caucus (except, inexplicably, when she voted against reauthorizing the Ryan White AIDS CARE Act). But that doesn’t mean we don’t have important statewide issues to decide. If any Californians are interested in my ballot recommendations, feel free to click on the link above.

    Annika,

I’m with you on all your choices except for 83. 83 will cost a fortune and will not make us any safer from these scum-bags. The only thing that will ever work is to make these sex crimes NON-PAROLE ELIGIBLE, PERIOD!! Enforce the laws and uphold the sentences.

  2. Billy Says:

Thanks Annika…taking this with me to the Bird Rock Elementary School Auditorium right now to vote.

I both agree and disagree with YS on 83. Of course we should have a law making these crimes ineligible for parole. The problem is that with all of the voting sex perverts from NoCal, we’d never get that law passed…and if we did, some sex pervert NoCal judge would just throw it out.

So I am voting yes on 83.

Oh yeah. Did anyone get the impression that I think there are a lot of sex pervs in NoCal? Don’t know where I came up with that:

“I do not believe it should be a felony if someone is caught with child pornography for their personal use.”

I’m with you on the bulk of these and the reasoning…I hate carve-outs or special taxes. Let ‘em duke it out with everyone else from the general fund. A tax is a tax is a tax…
