American Idol = A Bleak Peek Into Our Public Schools
February 6th, 2007 at 8:59 pm by Preston Taylor HolmesI just had the misfortune of watching a little bit of American Idol, as the Mrs. had it on when I wondered into the room. After I worked my way through the gag reflex, I was captivated by the audition of some black chick who was absolutely horrific. After the judges ruled her out – and in a less vicious way than I expected – she was completely baffled by how “negative” they were. The blank expression on her face was almost as telling as her incomprehensible “why you got to be so negative” line of questioning.
I couldn’t help but think about how she is undoubtedly a fine product of our American public school systems. She had been told all her life that nothing she does is wrong, passed from class to class without having to face the negativity of being told that any of her answers were incorrect. She couldn’t believe that the judges didn’t share her same falsely-inflated self-image and lashed out at them as she left. Her mamaw didn’t help the situtation by suggesting that Simon go back to “British” cuz he shouldn’t be judging no Americans anyway.
Keep it up teachers’ unions – your continuing efforts towards dumbing the nation down is paying dividends.

Do you have the effrontery to suggest there are no losers in “tag?” Shit, next you’ll be wanting to ban red ink pens…

Preston, you dumb cracker. It is all about the RACIAL.
What is wrong with this young ladyees atitude? Those judges robbed her of the fame and money she was ENTITLED to. And she tried REALLY hard.
That white guy SHOULD go back to British…because he has no idea how we roll.

Yep. Totally unbelieavable that someone would be baffled by rejection.
I hate rejection personally, but it’s a fact of life. As a published author, I get it all the time. Well, obviously not all the time, but more often than I’d like.
And of course, how dare a foreigner reject or insult us. If we don’t like what they say, deport them. No matter they created the show, gave people a chance to be a star that might otherwise never get the chance. Horrible, horrible person, that foreigner.
