Shock! Media Out Of Touch With People
March 9th, 2007 at 1:16 pm by Cranky“We had study guides in schools, we had the full support of the print media, both editorially and with advertising, and an extensive [Ten Network] on-air campaign with a number of different creative treatments and different stances.
“We spent a fortune to get the audience there and it didn’t work. We’ve talked about it quite a lot internally. We’re disappointed.”
The compelling programming not seen?
Would this be the result of push polling? You know, questions like, “are you concerned, very concerned or extremely concerned that Global Warming will kill you?”
Or maybe, just maybe the great unwashed masses are as committed to combatting global climate change as much as their celebrity overlords.
“People are quite passionate about it but when you wander around the house, all they’ve got is a bucket in the shower,” says Emery. “They don’t know what to do.”
If Ten Network’s experience means anything, the masses may not really want to.
I bet we would happily raise the taxes on some other schlubs or “The Corporations”, however.
Anyway, read it all. As a bonus, you get to see the word “arse” used in the the priceless Aussie tradition.
UPDATE:
Thank you Tim Blair for the link. More there for his tireless work against “Glowball Warmening”.

Ain’t the Ten network like a porn channel on the satellite? Not that I would know about such things and all.

This just shows the ignorance of the Aussie people.
How could Australians be so irresponsible as to not read all of the propag…er…study guides that were distributed to the children?
After all, global warming is undisputably the number one threat to civilization and it has been proven beyond any doubt that human carbon emissions is the problem.
Did you hear that? IT IS UNDISPUTABLE AND PROVEN SCIENTIFICALLY! HELLO?! ANYONE LISTENING!?

As an ignorant Aussie, I refused to watch such blatant propagander..The show was pushed for weeks over here..It’s kinda like when the movie studio’s push a ‘must see’ movie..you know that it’s a dud movie..
Also we Aussies don’t give a rats arse anyway..

The last paragraph sheets home the blame to our dark overlord: John Howard. How original.
