The Godfather of Blogging Returns

July 17th, 2007 at 2:20 pm by Cranky

Kiss his ring. Jonah Goldberg is bringing back the G-File. For the uninitiated, the G-File was a proto-blog and one of the first conservative voices on the Internet. I believe that it was Jonah’s personal part of the sandbox which was to become National Review Online.

To give you an idea how old it is, I used to dial-up my Compuserve account to read his column.

Besides humor and pop culture trivia, it was the place where I read one of the absolute best columns ever, Africa Bleeds. (Egads, I just looked at the date, May 2000! Was Ace blogging then? Drudge was around for sure and I think Insty was.)

Anyways, I look forward to the posts and if you have any sense left in that drug addled brain of yours, I suggest you do too.

Our girl Annika will be taking the California Bar exam next week, July 24, 25 and 26. Let’s all wish her well.

And, perhaps she’ll find some time to enrich us all with her perspectives, which I find pretty insightful for a young attractive woman standing on the threshold of a great career in the law.

As a fellow who has been there and done that, I still get a great kick out of reading her posts, and so did a lot of us before she folded her tent to concentrate on the exam.

    Good Luck, Annie!!

I still dial up to an Earthlink account. Ouch.

Back in the ’97-’99 days, I was still fresh from the campus and if I knew half of what I thought I knew then, I’d still be a card carrying acid-burned libertarian cauco-black nationalist independent.

Oddly enough, somebody T-Man might know at the old stomping grounds turned me onto National Review. The rest, as Preston is wont to say, is right-wing fanatical history.

  3. Cranky Says:

Yes, all the best to you, annika.

Smantix, we have much to talk about…

  4. reagan80 Says:

I hear you, Shelly. Amen to that.

We all yearn for her triumphant return.
