I’m not getting into the individual quotes about a show that’s still ongoing but Fred Thompson is swinging for the fences on ‘Meet the Press’. Every question has been answered sincerely and in depth contrary to how liberal flacks contend that he’s senile and out of touch and intentionally calls Russia the Soviet Union.

Barack Obama is going to have his own Bill Richardson moment next weekend with Tim Russert if he thinks he’s going to get the softball treatment he’s gotten in the national press since he started campaigning.

If Obama gets the tough questions Thompson is getting this morning, that shallow lightweight might as well start carving his own political tombstone.

Once again, Russert is the gold standard for political television.

UPDATE: *standing applause* From the martial law situation in Pakistan, against a Constitutional amendment on abortion, his own health, the threat of a nuclear Iran, allegations that one of the men who coordinates his flights had drug problems 25-30 years ago, Thompson nailed every question and was unflappable.

Obama is DOA next week. Might as well start making the funeral arrangements now and expect his paid-to-be-loyal fellow DemocRATS to start jumping ship.

How is Tom Brokaw going to top that with his latest book on how “The Greatest Generation” created the most solipsistic, self-absorbed, hippie deadbeats?
