Teddy Bear Flogging
November 29th, 2007 at 11:34 am by CrankyWhat is the Muslim perspective?
We’re offended.
We’re offended that this story got so much publicity presumably by the naturally xenophobic and racist white people.
THEY are fluffy, soft and a symbol of childhood — but now teddy bears join the list, apparently, of what is offensive to Muslims.
Brit teacher Gillian Gibbons could face prosecution under sharia law for insulting the Prophet Mohammed.
This reinforces the image of Muslims as intolerant barbarians. But the truth is Muslims are not offended by a teddy being called Mohammed — they’re offended that this story has got so much publicity.
Well in Sudan, if there was no offense at the Great Prophet Teddy Bear, then there wouldn’t be so much of that offense-giving attention.
I would think a paid journalist might recognize the relationship between cause and effect. Then again, causality might just be another racist construct invented by dead white males.

Luckily the bear wasn’t raped or it would be getting lashes too.
