This video was on the day my mother explained to me what “gay” meant. Seriously.

To Billy Squires credit, even he admits this video sunk him.

Billy Squier’s career died? What the hell are you talkin’ ’bout Holmes? I still have all of his 8-tracks in my car…
Next you’ll be telling me that Steve Perry’s career is over…

Absolute proof that one “aw sh*t” wipes out a hundred “attaboys”.

So did Richard Simmons give him permission to raid his closet and steal his dance moves?

I was but a lad of 15 when ‘Don’t Say No’ came out. I was a big fan of senoir Squire, until I saw the video on Mtv.
As Slim Pikens once said, “What in the wide, wide world of sports is a goin’ on here? I hired you boys to lay some track, not dance around like Billy Squire!”

Dude! I’ve been saying that for 20 years! Everything was turning up roses for Billy until he green-lighted that piece of faggy theatrics. Just imagine if he would have just gone with a simple stage performance video or had the studio track layed over the live performance of the song; Billy would have avoided career hare-kare. But, much to his credit, he did release an outstanding album in ’89 with “Hear & Now. His best song (IMO) is “Don’t Let Me Go”.

I am still in the midst of forming the greatest Billy Squier tribute band ever, called “Billy’s Choir”.

I kept waiting for this video to get less foppish, but it didn’t. I kept thinking about Paul Stanley during the whole apartment dancing scene. Just like “Another Thing Comin’” by Judas Priest, another childhood memory ruined. Thanks a bunch.
