The Pledge of Dependence
January 29th, 2008 at 8:47 pm by Preston Taylor HolmesAs our country spirals down the sewer that the great unwashed continue to vote us into, I believe my friend Leo may have hit on something with his new Pledge of Dependence.
“I pledge my dependence, to the flags, of the “Assorted Cultures of America”, and to the melting pot, for which they stand, secular multinational cultures, divisible by race, gender, sexual orientation and income brackets, with reparations and healthcare for all.”
Sure it’s not the Black Pledge or Hitlery’s Pledge of Allegience to the America That Can Be (with enough help from Government), but it’s certainly where we’re headed with this crop of candidates.

I know you folks over here have been very anti-Romney. Now that it looks like it’s down to Romney/McCain, who can you hold your nose and vote for?
Me? I’ve always been OK with Romney…especially since I never thought Thompson or Hunter had a chance. My first choice (Rudy-based largely on merit, not ideology) is conceding right now and Romney has always been my 2nd choice.
Rumors are that Rudy will be endorsing McCain. Since McCain seems to be butt-humping Juan Hernandez and the open borders crew, I guess I will need to brush up on my Spanish.
Seriously…as much as y’all seem to dislike Romney, I think he is now the last chance for the GOP. If McCain wins the nomination, I might be placing my vote for Cynthia McKinney…

Heh. It’s very difficult, Nigel. I’m watching Mel Martinez call McSuck things like “conservative”, “agent of change”, and all these other terms that don’t apply. I cannot vote for McSuck.
I could hold my nose and vote for Romney, but I’d have to pinch it REALLY REALLY HARD. Even harder than I did when I voted for Pres. Junior.
If it’s McSuck, I’m done.

And I’ve already said that I’m done. I will poke fun at everyone in the interim but I will not vote for McCain or Romney.
We’ve got two center-left liberal Republicans anointed. I see the Payola Right Blogosphere unifying on Romney (and their bloggertory pilot fish attaching themselves to their underbellies) and calling everyone who will not ignore his entire history a bigot for not heralding him.

Bring me your huddled masses, let me ghettoize them along racial lines and sign them up as Democrats.
BTW, do you think the GOP party powerful have no use for conservatives?
It seems we want another compassionate conservative. And by compassionate, I mean free spending.

I do not like McCain. He has an explosive temper. I heard him throw a tantrum live on the Michael Reagan show back in 2000 and that sealed his fate with me. This election is just going to suck.

Funny, BMac, I see quite a few bloggers lining up behind McCain – certainly more than are lining up behind Romney. Really, the question is, which shitpie do you want a slice of? This is starting to look like one of those times you just skip dessert altogether.

I truly hate McSuck’s, I will never forgive him for McCain/Fingold, but with the choices we have I do not see anything better. Embrace the Suck.

Nigel, I have also been anti-
Romney and here’s why:
His universal healthcare plan is actually WORSE than Obama’s! Romney’s actually FORCES you to buy the healthcare.
Pro-abortion. I know he says he is pro-life, but that’s a load of hogwash. He certainly was pro-abortion when he ran against Kennedy. “I respect a woman’s right to choose” 2002 NARAL Questionnaire.
Spending in MA dramatically increased. He didn’t raise taxes, per se, but he did gouge MA residents of 500 million extra dollars in “fees” and business an extra 400 million.
Supporter of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban (on 2002 campaign website) and the Brady Bill. Then, of course, changed his mind when asked about it in 2007.
Supported amnesty in 2004, slams McCain on amnesty plan in 2007.
Sorry, I can NOT vote for Romney. I don’t trust him at all. Romney makes JOHN KERRY look principaled!
And, I can’t vote for McCain either, so, like Brian, I am sitting this one out. Screw McCain, screw flip flopping Romney. Hopefully Hillary will become president so that all those fools who abandoned the republican party because things “got hard” will remember WHY they were republicans in the first place, and learn their lessons.
No. I’m not bitter.

I’m just getting used to Embracing the Stupid, now I have to Embrace the Suck too? Damn.
January 30th, 2008 at 2:02 pm
Well because this is about McSuck I should have said “Abrace el aspirar” I should get used to our new language. It will take a while to remember to press 2 for English.

Anybody who is for McCain is either lying to me or lying to themselves about what he is. I realize “it’s his turn” and everything.
What an inspirational fucking campaign slogan – “It’s My Turn – I waited, dammit.” On loan from Bob Dole.
So no dessert for me, thanks. I’ve got to watch my churlish figure.
