I’m A Bruce Pearl Sheep, Part Five

February 23rd, 2008 at 11:40 pm by Preston Taylor Holmes

Vols take a dump on my hometown boys from Tiger High, 66-62. When Monday comes, the basketball Vols will take over the #1 spot in the polls for the first time ever. Pat Summitt just had an aneurysm.

You know what this means?? Vanderbilt will upset Tennessee.

  3. TinyElvis Says:

Congratulations to the Vols, Mr. Holmes. The SEC proves once again that everyone else are simply pretenders.

  4. Nigel Says:

If your Vols and my Bruins meet in the Final 4, I’d better see your ass down San Antonio way…

    Beers on me…

  5. Tbird Says:

So U of Memphis and U of Tenn. trade places in the national standings. Means nothing.
They’ll both most probably get sacked in the first round of the post season play.

  6. Preston Taylor Holmes Says:

Dang, Tbird. You must have ate a whole bunchen of dem Sour Grapes this mornin.

  7. Lee Says:

Congrats Taylor on the game and a probable #1 seed in the tourney. Hell of a game.

But for what’s it worth, from the rumors I hear coming out of Lexington, you may be a Bruce Pearl sheep, but our coach can drink your coach under the table, and then score with some twenty-year old poo.

    Go Cats!

  8. Preston Taylor Holmes Says:

Now, that I can respeck, Lee.

  9. Crush Liberalism Says:

I’m a Memphian, too, and while the outcome of the game disappointed me, I think it may be better for the Tigers in the long run.

    1. No more pressure of being undefeated.

    2. They get to hear “You can’t hang with the SEC” (never mind the victory over Kenutcky, which is more than UT can say). That puts a chip on their shoulders.

    3. It helps them focus on the remainder of the games. I know, they shouldn’t NEED focus, but if a loss helps them regain it, so be it.

  10. Preston Taylor Holmes Says:

Well, Crush, if you can keep your bball players and we can keep our football players out of their respective county jails, there’s no limit to what we can accomplish. (that’s Obama-style hopeyness, btw)

FYI – I just added you to my Tennesseans blogroll. Thanks for popping in – PTH

Looks like weasal contractor wins a cookie.

  12. Nigel Says:

Well…that was fun while it lasted I guess:

Thanks, Mr. Holmes. I’m adding you to my Memphis Posse blogroll.

Looks like UT and UM will be switching spots at the top of the polls again.
