The Sacred Cows Have Mooed
May 3rd, 2008 at 1:29 pm by BrianAdmittedly, I miss Local Blog Wars. The jousting and enmity that can only come from people who walk and work on the same streets with you every day. That those same people view the exact same world you’re seeing in a completely different way and it’s all the more interesting if they have an original thought in their head. Not the case here, but I’ll digress on that point.
So exits the last right-leaning blogger over at Marxists Commies and Bolsheviks:
I was not ever sure that it was possible to have a civil, respectful, authentic virtual “community” if religion or politics were a part of the conversation. I can care about and enjoy someone even if I disagree with–think they are dead wrong regarding, their views on religion or politics. There are numerous examples of such people in the greater MCB network.
Again, Williams offers his legendary respect to people that would never offer the same in return as he’s summarily criticized for not giving effective notice of resignation from his unpaid whipping post as Last Conservative Holdout.
What started out as a community-continuation exercise after the pogrom that burned NiT to the ground quickly turned into a Stalinist purging of everyone who didn’t adhere to some gynocratic leftwing star chamber hiding behind closed Twitter accounts. And Twitter is just IRC for slower, cud-chewing people.
I’m reminded of my own observations on this schizofrankopottamus experiment (being the oracle that I am):
Or (these types of websites) quickly evolve into hierarchies of superusers who determine that something is too offensive or when something can post and develop an editorial leash that people who are used to doing their own thing just aren’t used to.
And if you never say anything that anyone will be offended at then chances are – it’s just pap.
[...]
People love to argue. Having a sewing circle that nods their heads and high-fives each other all of the time is boring. At some point, someone must throw a pie.
When that happens, the powers that be must make a decision about what is acceptable and what isn’t. It’s a subjective editorial line that will eventually come up. Especially if you have thin-skinned sacred cows.
Damn I’m good.
However, they did take less than a year to create a fetid feco-system for Jesus General’s liege “democommie” to root in so you can always wallow in the pride of that.

Any blog or forum that can tolerate democommie isn’t one I’ll visit.
You’ve noticed he won’t comment at TennesseeFree? He knows that I’ll have the last bit of evidence I need to nail him.
If he is who I think he is, he has much to lose if he’s uncloaked.

Brian, I may have to steal “gynocratic.” Your mind should be under study at Vanderbilt, especially when all neurons are firing.
Well, I’ve said this before: I’m a mix of views, and I’ve received more respect (or amazed, confused silence; hard to say which) from the “conservative” (if you can call ‘em that) bloggers than from the lefties, with the exception of Sharon. I know I must give Hobbs fits, but he’s always been tolerant, and Ned has always been very nice to me. Though my name means “lady,” I’ll slice and dice you if I feel like it, but Ned is always a gentleman. As for the lefties, I have to say democommie hasn’t been particuarly snarky toward me, but I don’t keep up with all that’s written.
On a blog like MCB, a mix of viewpoints is called for. It’s hard to strike a balance, though, as we’ve seen.

Ned was hardly the best voice for conservatives. Not to kick him while he’s down or anything.

He certainly knows where he feels safe.
I have no ties to Ned and he’s never been a fan of mine from what I can tell. But he has always given people more respect than they deserved which I imagine is both a jewel and another thorn in his heavenly crown.
