Rough Landing
May 31st, 2008 at 11:13 pm by Preston Taylor HolmesYou may or may not have read about the plane crash in Honduras, which killed 4 and injured 65. It was a flight from LA to Tegucigalpa and ended quite badly, but not as badly as it could have.
There was no official cause given for the crash, but weather may have also been a factor. The runway was wet with rain from Tropical Storm Alma.
“The plane inexplicably circled the city twice and it ran out of runway because it landed more than halfway down” the length of the strip, airport manager Carlos Ramos told the Channel 7 television network.
The plane “didn’t touch down were they normally do, at the start of the runway … and that is being investigated,” Ramos said.
Many passengers walked away from the accident.

…. damn, that is hardcore….. almost as bad as Dutch Harbour….. I landed there twice and nearly died both times……

Good Lord. I vomit on perfectly normal flights making perfectly normal landing approaches into perfectly safe airports.

Dude. That’s tight. That runway is short for little Buddy Holly Plane standards.
