The Less Things Change, The More They Stay The Same
August 8th, 2008 at 12:56 pm by Brian***UPDATED*** True to Orwellian form, the Russians are claiming that the US is orchestrating the violence from behind the scenes. Yes, we made the Russians send in 150 of their own tanks to attack a civilian population.

How we’re being depicted on the front page of the Communist house organ this morning.
Their lead op-ed simply has to be read to be believed. Standard Soviet-issue smear campaign to sell to a people so stupid that they marvel at how brightly their chains sparkle.

While the world turns its attention to the shiny object of the ChiCom Olympic PR campaign and and while the shovel pats down the last bit of soil onto Solzhenitsyn’s grave, the Russians have invaded Georgia in a deliberate act of war:
“One hundred and fifty Russian tanks, armoured personnel carriers and other vehicles have entered South Ossetia,” President Saakashvili of Georgia told reporters in Tbilisi. “This is a clear intrusion on another country’s territory. We have Russian tanks on our territory, jets on our territory in broad daylight.”
Mr Saakashvili added that Georgian forces had downed two Russian jet fighters over Georgian territory.
Putin declares war on a US ally.
The area is of strategic importance because of the oil pipeline that helps keep their crooked empire awash in filthy lucre.
Did the UN give their Absolute Moral Authority permission slip for this or is the condemnation forthcoming?
Either way, it’s time to throw these hoods out the G8 – yesterday.
Though I don’t support McCain, he has already issued a statement on the subject:
“Today, news reports indicate that Russian military forces crossed an internationally-recognized border into thesovereign territory of Georgia. Russia should immediately and unconditionally cease its military operations and withdraw all forces from sovereign Georgian territory. What is most critical now is to avoid further confrontation between Russian and Georgian military forces. The consequences for Euro-Atlantic stability and security are grave.
“The government of Georgia has called for a cease-fire and for a resumption of direct talks on South Ossetia with international mediators. The U.S. should immediately convene an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council to call on Russia to reverse course. The U.S. should immediately work with the EU and the OSCE to put diplomatic pressure on Russia to reverse this perilous course it has chosen. We should immediately call a meeting of the North Atlantic Council to assess Georgia’s security and review measures NATO can take to contribute to stabilizing this very dangerous situation. Finally, the international community needs to establish a truly independent and neutral peacekeeping force in South Ossetia.”
Sorry to interrupt your Hawaiian vacation, Senator but the world events don’t stop because you decide to go surfing and see how granny is recovering from that freak bus accident.
Here we go. The Messiah asks the Georgians to show restraint while they are being invaded:
“I strongly condemn the outbreak of violence in Georgia, and urge an immediate end to armed conflict. Now is the time for Georgia and Russia to show restraint, and to avoid an escalation to full scale war. Georgia’s territorial integrity must be respected. All sides should enter into direct talks on behalf of stability in Georgia, and the United States, the United Nations Security Council, and the international community should fully support a peaceful resolution to this crisis.”
I don’t see a NATO mention there.
Respect isn’t something you get by asking for it. But we must be sure to blame the victim for the violence. The world better get used to that if you think that the Soviets are going to peacefully sit back on their petrol-stained laurels for the next decade after this aggression in broad daylight. Especially with a spineless “peace at all costs” placater like the Messiah.
The international community always supports peaceful resolutions – they never seem to support doing anything about it though. These two statements provide illuminating revelations as to how world conflicts will be handled from the future Commander-In-Chief.
As far as our current Commander-In-Chief, he should stand up and walk out of the Olympics immediately unless China denounces their military partner’s attack. All U.S. athletes should follow his lead and not give credibility to this distraction. It is difficult to imagine that the Chinese did not know about this attack in advance.
