With all due respect, Mr. Gergen, wtf are you even talking about?

If you’ve lived in the South since 1970, you know very well that there’s no such goddam thing as “code for being uppity.”

“Everybody who comes from a southern background knows what that’s about..” That is complete bullcrap, but I suppose it reinforces some of the most treasured stereotypes that our friends from San Fran or NYC have about places like Tennessee (or even those of our friends in Nashville for places like Pulaski or Franklin).

I guess it’s more important for Gergen to pander to those biases than it is to try to get beneath the surface of a story, or even to utter a truthful sentence, God forbid.
