Second the flamed-out but inspired Keith Moon, who forgot how to drum when he wasn't drumming and had to practice right before a concert.

Here's my blonde (or is it red? I'll have to check) review of that kind of rock: It confuses me. I can never understand how they do all that starty stoppy stuff.

Fantastic Pres. I'm sure it takes more talent than one would think to do that.

BTW, for pure rock drumming goodness, you can't do much better than Keith Moon. But Peart is perfection IMHO.

Yes, I meant Palmer. Having seen them three times you'd think I'd know better. Aging sucks.

Michael,

You were trying to compare a drummer/percussionist to a bass player?! That argument was ponderous, man, ponderous! You might have made a better case if you tried to compare Carl Palmer with Neil Peart. Buddy Rich is/was the be all; end all drummer.

I used to have a running argument with a friend: Who was better, Peart or ELP's Greg Lake? Since I realized years ago arguing music was pointless I won't tell you that I said Lake.

Best Band, Evar!...

Yes, it's absolutely true. Beer and toy musical instruments will definitely lead to awesomeness like this:
