Boy, has this been an interesting 12 hours! The Democrat response to Mrs. Palin’s speech has been a bubbling cauldron of emotions ranging from fear to forced condescension. Their high perches must be feeling none too comfortable after Governor Palin came out swinging.
I flipped over to CNN last night after the speech to hear Larry King and a collection of what appeared to be Democrat she-males, give their opinions on what they had just witnessed. Of course, they were all deeply offended at Mrs. Palin’s “smirk speech” and how anyone could dare think that she could possibly win-over Hillary Clinton supporters. More than once, they questioned how anyone could compare a “hick” governor to a woman of Hillary’s experience as if being a US Senator for 8 years qualifies you as the smartest woman in America.
Other commentators remarked on how the bar had been lowered to such a degree that anything other than a complete bust could only be viewed as a success for this obviously unqualified candidate.
While yelling at the television over their ongoing offensive and sexist commentary, I wondered aloud why this same attitude was never directed at other female candidates like Hillary Clinton. Mrs. TinyE summed it better than I ever could: because no one views Hilary Clinton as a woman. Amen.
And then there’s washed-up, old Joe Biden. He had all night to think about it and this is all he could come up with:
“I didn’t hear the phrase ‘middle class.’ I didn’t hear a single word about health care. I didn’t hear a single word about helping people get to college,” Biden, a U.S. senator from Delaware, told CNN’s “American Morning” Thursday.
Well, guess what Joe? I did quick scan of our Constitution this morning and I could not find those words either!
As it has been said before, a government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take everything you have.
