Might not be a deterrent to some Nigel, but the quicker you can remove animals from the breeding pool the better. Perhaps first time offenders should move the bodies of second-time offenders and bury them. That might make an impression but really, it’s still too good for a creature that preys on kids.

My take on it? Upon conviction (with irrefutable evidence) give them a choice – lifetime imprisonment because of the recidivism rate being through the roof – OR – 20 years plus immediate castration.

Or just shoot them.
