A Word On Very Serious Professional Bloggers

Do yourself a favor and take yourselves a little more seriously. You and your commenters are the reason why John McCain will succeed or fail. Yea. It’s all about you. Keep telling yourselves that. Narcissism is what makes the blogs go ’round.
Even if they aren’t your commenters. Even if they’re plants. You’ll scream and wave your ban sticks around like what you are doing really matters.
At the end of the day, the Mainstream Media still defines the message. They don’t like your guy and he’s not going to get a fair shake. No matter how many fraudulent voters were registered by ACORN. No matter if Tony Rezko sings like Lily Pons. No matter whether McCain beats an old lady to death with her own cane because she said Obama was an Arab he is still going to be treated like the next exalted cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan.
Oh, well. I guess you’ll have to start paying your own cable bill again if the blog money well runs dry.
They ran an ad in 2000 claiming George Bush was responsible for dragging James Byrd to death. Today they claim McCain is a latter day George Wallace and that the Secret Service should arrest anyone who says anything critical about The One. The next guy or gal nominated will be David Duke whether he/she/it is black, white, yellow, or green. It’s a fact of life no matter how much you huff and puff about a lone idiot carrying a sign at a rally.
There’s enough loss of respect to go around this election year. It’s a shame that so many of you have volunteered your own in exchange for some payola.

I like Ace. The vast majority of what he does is hilarious.
But this post wasn’t specifically about AoS. There’s a triumvirate of sites where some perspective should be applied to the de-Wild Westification of the blogosphere.
For most of us, this is a labor of love and hate.
