Election Day Reflections
November 4th, 2008 at 12:11 pm by TinyElvisInitially, I had planned to write about the comedy of errors put on by my polling location. However, it’s a rainy morning here in The OC and my mood is slightly more somber than anticipated. I can only assume that God (the real one, not Obama) is shedding tears over the tragic mistake our country is about to make.
On mornings like today, my mind cannot help but wander back 400 years when brave people left everything that had, boarded wooden ships and sailed across a great ocean to escape persecution and seek freedom. Think about that for a second. How many of us would be willing leave everything we have, board a ship and sail into the unknown in hope of a better life?
Sadly, many of us simply do not understand freedom nor the sacrifices made by so many to secure and maintain it. It’s something you heard about in history class and remembered it long enough just to pass a test. You heard it mentioned in stories that your grandfather used to tell but he was probably embelleshing a bit. I know you may stand up when the National Anthem plays, but do you really think about what it means? Or, do you just look around at others and wonder if their memory of the lyrics are worse than yours?
How often do you think of the terrified soldier landing at Omaha Beach fighting for freedom? How often do you think of the millions of Jews rounded up by their government and sent off to “re-education centers” whose freedom and lives were just brought to a screeching halt? Those are sad stories, but that happened a long time ago. Besides, this is America. It could never happen here, right?
Ladies and gentlemen, we are about to elect a radical extremist the likes of which we have never known. Because they do not understand freedom and sacrifice, so many are happily going to the polls to elect a man who is Hell-bent on destroying what is great about our country. A man who wants to re-write the definition of freedom. A man who’s Presidency will do more to create contempt and divide this country than any other in history.
Think about it long and hard before you vote today. Does Barack Obama and the ideals of the far-left really represent you?

Present company excluded, thank God. We will never forget, and we will be the ones fighting when it comes to that.
Thanks TE.
