First, Congress should learn double-ledger bookkeeping; that is, when you bailout one person, you put another in trouble.

Second, the Big Three should file Chapter 11 bankruptcy, if for nothing else, to cut the number of dealers. Toyota sold slighty more cars in the US than GM last year with only 1,500 dealers, GM had 7,000. Bankruptcy would elimate all the different states contactual agreements that would take an army of attorneys and years of fighting in court to break.

Third, the current bailout is nothing more than the UAW Preservation Act. It helps the Union but not much else.

I don't think they should get squat. I hold the UAW accountable. They are the ones who have halted the American auto industry. We should have had cars that FLY by now, but NO, we're stuck with the latest Buick (who the hell buys Buicks, can anyone tell me where one can even BUY a Buick?) Crap Avenue, which in fact DOES NOT fly. And what about ashtrays? Why don't American cars have ashtrays? Don't we smoke cigars anymore when we're tired from a day of dominating those other losers? C'mon! Bring us back to glory and make Detroit take a close and hard look in the mirror while they're doing the Sunday Chapter 11 crossword.
