I’d Rather Have 100% Of Nothing

Is it worthwhile to have a job and work out the retiree health benefits issue later or to have no company, no job and no health benefits now or later? If you guessed the later, welcome to the worst economy in recent memory. You are not going to find a $75 an hour job with three or four months of paid vacation per year and to-the-grave healthcare for turning out substandard, overpriced cars.
Back to work dock monkeys.

They must know that deal or no deal some righteous free bailout money is coming their way. The One will do a loaves and fishes deal with a couple of billion and no improvement will be required.

Cranky, My guess is, you are right about the UAW being privy to another big bailout. My guess is the over-reaching plan (between The One, his Minions & the Union) is to have the all new electric Pelosimobile (and various other versions of horrible transportation) completely subsidized/nationalized/manufactured with the UAW never skipping a beat in their eternal quest for an even easier frickin’ job with even better bennies.
The trick for The One will be to push it through fast before all the pages of the current porkulus bill get completely read by the public. I’m seeing some rumblings from leftards a little dismayed at some of the ridiculous shit included in the bill. Urkel’s gonna have to act fast…

Right on, Zank.

If Urkel can walk on water, surely he can push that bill through just like he pushes it through Omarosa when she’s not busy feminizing him.

PTH…I still think the most apt (and hilarious) description of Michelle is that of “James Brown in a dress”.
Great googily moogily, the sight of that woman gives me the shivers.

For a few years I stubbornly bought US automakers products and put up with the high maintenance costs and poor quality. Then Economic reality and personal research finally made me switch a few years back to Toyotas. At that point I used to say that I would buy American automobiles if they could bring the quality and durability up the the standards of say, our Toyota Sienna (made in Kentucky).
Now I figure I’ve already kicked in to the US auto industry with my tax dollars, so unless they start to give away a vehicle that, say for instance, lasts for 500,000 miles without so much as an oil change, I’m not even going to consider buying American in the case of automobiles…and that’s just as well because each dollar spent on a union-made US automobile is a subsidy for The Left via the union PACs.

Likewise, AG. I’ve driven nothing but American vehicles since I was 16. That officially changed when my American SUV rolled over and could have killed me.
Both my Chevy’s broke down regularly. The dealerships were complete and utter frauds. The Ford dealerships were not much better. Throw in some odd recalls and you wonder how someone can produce a million of anything with a defect that causes an innocuous “feature” to risk burning your house down when your vehicle isn’t even running.
I’m sick of subsidizing these unions that are ruining the companies they infest. They screw over their own members who they hold at gunpoint to get dues that they turn over to the Democratic Party.
By buying an American car, outside of a Saturn, you might as well be making a donation to fatter version of MoveOn.

I did overlook Saturn. From what I hear the Saturns are somewhat reliable vehicles though.
They’re not on the handout list for Barry are they? I could be mistaken, but I don’t think they are. If thats true then no union = no taxpayer subsidy when it comes to the automobile industry.

Baracky and gang are going to make some sort of stipulation that they reduce white collar work force (or executive pay), while not losing one iota of benefits for union members. That will be part of whatever deal comes in the future.

Thanks for making me look into it a little more AG. In light of Urkel’s recent foot-washing ceremony in Elkhart, it appears that a leading third party, GM supporting Elkhart company just signed a new contract with Saturn this week. So the fix may be in somewhere.
Saturn itself is in a bit of trouble. If anyone in Tennessee who works at Spring Hill wants to chime in please feel free. They face so much internal competition within the GM brand that many of the significant vehicles they have manufactured over the last few years have gotten lost in the shuffle and their production levels have wound up oversaturating their market.
It could be sold off along with Hummer, Saab, etc. Which they should!
Carin, you should appreciate this regarding what Baracky giveth, Baracky can taketh away.

My next car will be a Toyota. The big 3? Screw ‘em. I’ll never buy another UAW-built vehicle again.
