Enough With The Slavery Crap
March 25th, 2009 at 10:08 pm by Preston Taylor HolmesFor a group that identifies itself with an organization called “MoveOn.org”, they sure aren’t interested in moving on. I guess that’s because, though we are now under the righteous rule of a black president, the twin issues of race and slavery will never truly be settled until there is a reparations tax on the paycheck of every cracker in the country. Even here in Tennessee.
The resolution sponsored by Rep. Brenda Gilmore, D-Nashville, passed the House State Government Subcommittee on a voice vote today.
The measure asks the state Legislature to express “profound regret for the enslavement and racial segregation of African-Americans.” Six other states – Alabama, New Jersey, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia – have passed similar legislation.
But Rep. Gerald McCormick, the only dissenting vote, said such legislation would do more harm than good.
“There’s no one left alive today who either had slaves or was a slave,” McCormick said. “I just feel like we’re opening up a wound, and I’d rather move forward rather than look backward.”
Not to mention the legislation is idiotic. Good for you Rep. McCormick – though you will be branded a “racist”, you are doing the right thing. But careful, you might hurt Gilmore & company’s feelings.
“It would begin a point of deep reconciliation and healing of many racial feelings that have been in the state of Tennessee for many, many years,” she said. “I’m proud that we’ve at least made it past the first committee.”
So this resolution is going to make everything more better? Many people – black and white – have gotten past the whole slavery thing. Most of us – particularly in Tennessee – take people as they come.
But that’s never good enough for the grievance lobby of which Brenda Gilmore is obviously a proud member.
Sorry, Brenda baby, I refuse to participate in the whole liberal-white-guilt thing, and I’m going to let my State Rep & Senator know that they shouldn’t either.
Hopefully this bill will now find its way to the bottom of a port-a-john in Legislative Plaza, since that’s where it belongs.

An amazing civil war photo of white apology. I think the war weary guys digging the graves probably accepted it, and they probably spent their lives (if they survived the war) having nightmares about those graves. Everybody paid. Guilty and innocent.
And as far as racism goes, is Martin Luther King just rolling in his grave right now or what? He died trying to open doors for black America, and still so many refuse to walk through, preferring to look back. Probably because there’s some whiny politician blocking the doorway in order to “speak for them”.
I know. I have this one song and I just keep playing it, because it’s the truth.
