Bird On An AP Wire
April 8th, 2009 at 8:00 pm by BrianWhy do you think that the AP wants to sue everyone who mentions something they put in one of their reports? Is it because people are stealing their content and not properly attributing it? Nope. Is it because their content is so fantastic that it’s commanding imagery and storytelling is beyond reproach? Definitely not.
They may think they are beyond reproach but what we are engaging in is exactly that. Media criticism. The AP is not impartial. They choose a side and are practically an in-kind campaign contribution to the Democrat Party. For example:
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama went for the defining television shot in Iraq and got it — pictures of hundreds of U.S. troops cheering wildly as he told them it was time for the Iraqis to take charge of their own future.
The war zone photo opportunity produced a stunning show of appreciation for Obama from military men and women who have made great sacrifices, many serving repeated tours in a highly unpopular war.
I guess the gym was closed today. Something stinks to high hell with this staged photo op. From the “rich mosaic” background that starkly contrasted to the crowd to the similar cameras being used by the audience.
Nevermind that Obama’s supporters think these soldiers are mercenaries who kill, rape and maim for cash. Nevermind that Obama said they would fail and then tried to cut the funding to make it happen. Nevermind that Obama avoided visiting wounded troops like the plague as a candidate in favor of going to the gym.
But it’s not over:
But at Baghdad’s Camp Victory assembled U.S. forces mobbed Obama, snapping pictures and stretching out their arms for a handshake with the commander in chief who personally brought the message that they had “performed brilliantly” in a job that was nearly done.
…
Obama’s reception as the president who is ending the highly unpopular Iraq war could not have contrasted more starkly with the staid, set-piece visits by the conflict’s author, former President George W. Bush.
On his last visit, Bush had to duck as a local journalist threw his shoes at the former president during a news conference with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. The video tape continues to play repeatedly on cable television, interspersed for contrast with Obama working the crowd of 600 troops who assembled for a warmest of welcomes for a president who is sending them home.
If I was the AP, I’d be ashamed that anyone would draw attention to this mawkish slobberfest too. Obama wasn’t engaged in a press conference. He was engaged in a staged photo op where he pre-screened only military people who voted for him and then handed them cameras. The raw video just does not pan out. This was not the Beatles concert you are being sold.
It’s one thing to report an event as an objective organization and wanting to protect your interest if other people are getting paid off of your content but we could just as easily make the same case about quoting the catch phrase from a television commercial. At least we know they’re trying to sell us something.
Today you tried to sell us a load of bull by making a handful of Obamabots in fatigues represent the men and women he tried to get killed by undermining them at every turn. That’s unforgivable and worthy of all the scorn your earned.
You’re mixing the Kool-Aid and telling us that we can’t mention that there is cyanide in it because it’s a patented family recipe.

I’m sure Barack Houssein Obama would have flown in during the middle of the night while there were still lots of hostilities and stayed for Thanksgiving Dinner. Well, maybe if Hillary was his tail gunner….

Now she’s after pirates. I’m sure they’re shivering in their timbers.
We’ve traded out PegLeg Pete for PantLeg Shrillery.
But, argh, that fish hails from the coldest sea.

Editorialize much? Were the two mentions of the “highly unpopular war” a quote from the troops or this chucklehead’s newsroom?

I fearlessly predict that despite the AP’s 30 year foreign correspondent’s warnings against Afghanistan (or as he calls it “the graveyard of empires”) that it will be the most popular party this summer.
Why, I can almost see MTV holding Spring Break in Jalalabad as a testament to Obama’s divine vision. I can see a Black Eyed Peas concert in Kabul – For The Troops ™. Maybe Kanye Does Kandahar.
Them homies don’t care about sand peoples. This is Obama’s War despite what the AP tried to pass as “the tome Bush authored”. He’s increasing troop levels. He’s cutting funds. He’s setting an unrealistic timeline and if they can just hold out long enough then Obama will declare victory at the first opportunity and go home. It’s the responsibility of Will.I.Am and Kanye and every other celebretard who starred in Obama videos to get their asses to Af-gonny-ee-ston promptly to support the troops their President is tossing in the meat grinder.
