It’s Tea Time In Tennessee

April 10th, 2009 at 9:59 am by Preston Taylor Holmes

We’re one week away from the Tax Day Tea Party protests.

“But, I’ve never protested before…”

This is what a friend of mine said to me last weekend. There are a lot of people who feel that way. The problem with conservatives is that we’re usually going to work, taking care of our families, spending time with church, school or recreational activities with our kids.

Unlike the paid volunteers on the left and the criminal ACORN thugs, we actually make the great American engine run, instead of trying to yank out the gears. We don’t need community organizers to lead us, because, for the most part, we take care of ourselves while our tax money goes to layabouts and other miscreants.

“Community organizers” aren’t going to send buses to pick up a bunch of crackers that believe in crazy things like limited government and lower taxes. I don’t think you would want to be on one of those buses anyway, I would imagine the stench is sickmaking.

This coming Wednesday, Apr 15, people will be gathering all over the country to let the Federal Government know that there is an irritated majority out here that is not going to be silent anymore. That irritated majority is not just a bunch of sour-grapes, anti-Obama Republicans, because we’ve had it with their sorry GOP butts as well.

This unsilent majority is a diverse group with a wide range of concerns. The biggest common denominator is that this group believes in the U.S. Constitution, personal freedom, individual liberty and individual responsibility.

We see our elected “leaders” (both Dim-O-Cracks and Republicans) doing nothing but serving their own interests and cashing in our freedoms for their power. We see an unelected and unaccountable Fed grabbing power it was never meant to have. We see ridiculous bailouts from both Bush and Obama – all of which have been passed against the will of the people and all of which do nothing more than saddle our kids and grandkids with catastrophic debt that can never be repaid. We see a so-called stimulus package passed by politicians who didn’t even read the damn thing.

But, what do our elected officials care? They are exempt from the laws they create for the rest of us. Their retirements are assured.

On top of all this, we witness a Federal Government bent on taking away our First and Second Amendment rights, which none of us will tolerate.

While we still have Freedom of Speech, we’re getting together all over the country on April 15 to express our displeasure with the leaders and direction of this country.

I’ll be at the Knoxville rally – 3 pm to 6 pm at Worlds Fair Park on April 15. I hope that if you’re in East Tennessee, you’ll join us. The national Tax Day Tea Party website is here. The Knoxville Tea Party page is here. You can join the Knoxville Facebook group as well here.

It’s not about political parties, it’s about real, rank-and-file Americans who are sick of being vilified for going to work every day and doing the right things while the grievance groups and grifters get a free pass – or worse, preferential treatment via false victimhood.

There is nothing controversial about supporting the traditions that made this country great, despite what the dying mainstream media wants you to believe. Standing up for the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, traditional family values, Faith, Federalism, free markets, low taxation, limited government, personal responsibility does not make one an oddball or a threat to national security.

Do not allow the rotting mainstream culture intimidate you into the corner. There are far more of us than there are of them. It’s time for us to quit letting them shut us down with their dishonest accusations of “racism”, “homophobia” and “heartlessness.”

The simple fact is, when middle America gets pissed off enough to actually stand up for what’s right, leftists become afraid.

The Left just cannot handle when they do not control the anti-establishment narrative. But it’s time they admit it: They are the establishment. Government interference means that their beloved Barack Obama is interfering with American lives. It is Barack Obama taking control of individuals and companies and industries.

Protests used to be a sign of patriotism. Now, if a person is anti-establishment (i.e. anti-the ideas coming out of the Democrat House, Senate and Executive Branch, oh, and don’t forget the media), he’s an obstructionist, racist, violent, crazy person. Well, if the press decides to cover the Tea Parties, they’ll meet working Americans who are sick of being bullied by a ruling class that has forgotten that they represent the people rather than preside over subjects. They will see families and tax payers and fed up Americans wanting to have their voices heard.

What bothers Leftists so much is that they believe they own the outsider, persecuted status and don’t much like seeing the opposition protesting now that their leader is the establishment. The whole order of things has been shifted. Well, you can’t own the power everywhere and still cling to your victim-status, Leftists.

The Marxist ideology, socialist actions and liberal arrogance is waking up the silent majority. People who haven’t paid attention to politics for years are paying attention now. And they’re going to Tea Party protests across America on April 15th. Unlike most Leftist gatherings, these protests will be peaceful, energized and fun. Nothing to fear here… No need to project violence fantasies on the Right.

The left is so wound up about this that they’re planning on making their presence known at these rallies – some will be obnoxious (as usual), others will try to disguise themselves as part of the movement, but will likely be holding signs or making statements to the press that are intended to make the group look like a bunch of racist hayseeds.

I will personally be looking for these ACORN douchebags at the Knoxville rally, and I will be posting their pics here as my digital camera will be firing away non-stop next Wednesday. They will stick out like a sore thumb, especially at this event.

Here’s another piece of advice for which you didn’t ask. Don’t send tea bags to your elected representatives in Washington.

Why? Because it’s pointless AND they will never get them. In fact, the minimum wage staffers who open the envelopes will likely freak out and need hospitalization, which will cost us all more money.

You want to get involved? Don’t waste your time sending tea bags and then pat yourself on the back thinking you’ve accomplished something.

Get educated on the issues. If you don’t know who your representatives are, find out. Follow the bills these bastards are trying to rush through Congress and contact your Senators and Representatives and let them know where you stand. They need to hear from us constantly.

If you’re one of the many who either haven’t learned or have forgotten the history of how this great country was created, start with Levin’s Liberty and Tyranny and branch out from there.

The last time the Federal Government listened to us was when we mobilized to stop the Amnesty bill. We’ve got to stay tuned in and active on every single freedom-robbing bill that they’re pushing through. They count on us to be ignorant and apathetic. Turn off the freaking American Idol and use the alternative media and internet to learn what’s going on.

Also, talk to your friends and neighbors about what’s going on. You would be surprised at how many people share your disgust and anger at our so-called leaders. You can get involved with The 912 Project or the We Surround Them meetup group. There are a million ways to get involved, but start by making your voice known to the people who are supposed to be representing you.

Here is a list of protest resources:

Tax Day Tea Party
Top Conservatives on Twitter
Pajamas Media (Glenn Reynolds)
Michelle Malkin
Smart Girl Politics
Don’t Go Movement
The National Facebook Tea Party Group
Knoxville Tea Party

We have to stop them from destroying our future and our kids’ futures. They’re doing it intentionally and if you think they care about you, you’re in a dreamworld. We can’t make them care, but we can sure as hell make them feel the heat.

By the way, I’m borrowing San Antonio’s Tax Day Tea Party video because it kicks much ass.
