Barrett Firearms Manufacturing will not be accepting the state-funded grant that was recently awarded for worker training, said Ronnie Barrett, the company’s owner.
Gov. Phil Bredesen and Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley recently announced the awarding of $4,975 to Barrett Firearms Manufacturing.
As to why:
“Stimulus money doesn’t exist,” Barrett said. “That’s national debt that goes to our great-grandchilden, and I don’t want any part of it.”
I’m hat tipping the husband on this one too. A friend went on a tour of Barrett rifles and told him the story, so I had to search this one out.
Back in 2002 Barrett refused to sell rifles to the LAPD because of California’s stance on gun control. Here’s Ronnie Barrett’s letter.

Greetings:
One of my favorite old time movies was W.C. Fields’ “You Can’t Cheat an Honest Man”. I have always interpreted that title to mean that an honest man knows what he is entitled to and doesn’t want anything more or less.

If Say Uncle can fixate his bromance to Barrett it’s certainly preferable to his puppy dog love for Bill Richardson.
