We Are Truly In The Safest Hands
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:48 pm by BrianWhen asked what he thought about the North Koreans firing another four missiles off in violation of the last weakly worded UN resolution, the goo-gobbling bag of snacks Robert Gibbs offered up the following:
Even as the North Koreans tested four more missiles this week, the White House said Thursday that tough new United Nations sanctions are showing signs of working.
…
“I think it is clear the sanctions are having an impact,” Gibbs said.
When asked what the U.S. was doing in response to the most recent round of threats and missile tests from the country, Gibbs said “first and foremost, the administration is working to ensure the vigorous implementation of those sanctions.”
“We continue to watch the North Koreans,” Gibbs said. “They continue to do and say what they do and say.”
Seriously. What the hell does that mean? I’ve read it close to twenty times and the Gibbs shallow tautology is only matched by his lack of concern that Obama’s Poontang Diplomacy is encouraging crazier behavior than usual.
If firing a bunch of missiles and doing and saying and saying and doing everything that would lead a sane person to believe that they are getting ready to test another nuclear weapon equals sanctions are working, what’s the definition of success look like?
I’m guessing something like this -

Eureka! Another victory for Team 0!
Not to worry. The USS John McCain took matters into it’s own hands the only way an independent renegade like it’s namesake knows how.
After losing the North Korean vessel suspected of carrying arms to Burma, the warship responded in characteristic Maverick fashion by launching a cruise missile strike on Sarah Palin while it’s tender, the USS Meghan McCain, hosted a gay pride rally on it’s poop deck.

And the Ministry of Truth has sent it’s cheerleaders to CNN to report on how the economy is turning around and the stock market is rallying.
People seem to want to believe that the sky is whatever color they tell us it is.

I don’t think it’s turning around. I think that there will be a wave of home foreclosures that have been pushed out beyond what should have been their foreclosure because the banks don’t have the manpower to go after everybody at once.
If so, it’s a wave of debt that’s going to leave property values sucking for the foreseeable future. Unless, you kick the people who can pay up to nicer houses and transfer all the money to cure “homelessness” into giving people and actual home.
But that’s discriminatory because it thinks people that pay deserve something more than people who don’t.
Or, we can raise prices for getting a home building permit so high that it cripples the construction industry.
Or, we can just burn every empty house to the ground. That should correct the glut. But, it releases harmful pollutants in the air so…
What bothers me are the private sector companies that are clamoring to have “a seat at the table” in hopes that they don’t wind up on the menu. The gubmint announces some crazy expensive plan and they all suddenly volunteer to want to be a part of something they railed against for years.
Start a union? What a great idea! And healthcare for life? It’s the solution we’ve been waiting for. Why didn’t we think of it!?!
It’s like they got the strongarm Chicago “the only thing between the people with the pitchforks and you is me” speech and believed it.

I agree the economy is not turning around. There sycophants on CNN are just “economists” who make money and keep their jobs by painting turds.
